FYI... I just got an acceptance letter from Dartmouth. I interviewed there on 10/29.

They really make you feel like you were handpicked. If you get the letter, you'll see what i mean. The director of admissions wrote ME a personal note congratulating me on my success. It wasnt a form letter either, it was handwritten.

I kinda feel bad about turning them down. But anyways, if you interviewed before or on 10/29 you might be getting a response in the mail.

Baylor21, i recently was notified that my application is now complete. If you don't mind, what are your stats and tell me what the interview was like. You turned them down, where are you going to matriculate?

My stats are:

MCAT = 31
VR = 11
BS = 9
PS = 11

GPA = 3.8

I thought Dartmouth was a cool place. Some people complain its too rural but I like the outdoors and it seems like a great area for mountain biking, camping, skiing, etc.

I had 2 interviews there, both lowkey, no stress. The DHMC (medical center) is really cool and unique, very much like a mall. The administration is very friendly and seemed to be actually interested in us instead of acting like they had better things to do.

The only reason I'm not seriously considering Dartmouth now is because I got accepted MD/PhD to WashU (MD/PhD is really what I want to do). I applied only regular MD to Dartmouth.

When you go, they will give you a form to fill to choose whether you want to be considered for Dartmouth MD or the Brown-Dartmouth program, where you spend the first 2 years at Dartmouth and the last 2 years at Brown Medical School. I chose the Dartmouth only program, and in my acceptance letter it states that its nearly impossible to switch programs once you've been accepted. So if you interview there, keep in mind that you need to think carefully about which program you want to pursue.

Hey, baylor, remind me again what your first choice school is. Is it one of your acceptances or in your long list of interviews offered? Congrats on the Dartmouth acceptance, even though you're not interested. I interviewed there for undergrad, and know what you mean, they do make you feel special.

All that info makes me want Dartmouth even more. I love rural areas like the one you described. Give me the great outdoors any day over a city!

I dont know if I have a single top choice school, so many of them seem similar and I'm having a hard time distinguishing them from each other.

Probably the only places I would choose over WashU would be either Harvard, Hopkins, Penn, or Yale. Even then, I am probably leaning towards WashU, but its hard to say right now.

Havent heard from Harvard yet, I've interviewed at Hopkins/Yale already, and going to Penn in January. I havent been accepted to Hopkins/Yale as of yet.

Trust me you will love the area. It gets cold as expected but the whole area is covered with forests and mountains are nearby as well. Its an outdoorsman's dream.

Well congrats Baylor21. I have a Dartmouth Interview coming up in early Janurary. I am pretty nervous. I've already interviewed at Vermont, MCW (been accepted) and Einstein, but Dartmouth is on another level. But hey, what can I do about it except be myself. I'm gonna try to combine it with some other interviews there. But, seems to me like you heard back not too late and not too early, but just right on time. You did pop me a message earlier that you and everyone there was interviewed by a PhD and MD. If you got any other advice you could throw out, I'd appreciate it (things about the curriculum, the medical center, etc).
