Hey guys, I really need your advice. My dat is less than 2 weeks away and my application is complete other than my DAT. I've been studying for 3 weeks and I've been scoring 18-20 on Pat (bootcamp), 18 on QR (boot), and about 18 on the science sections. I have a lower than average gpa and will be applying to 20 schools or so. I know I can do much better with more time (havent even looked at DAT destroyer yet) but I dont want to apply late.

Will it be better to take it, send my application and hope for the best... / take dat again in September if I dont do well OR post pone it until late August and hand the rest of my app now? I will also have just completed my anatomy phys class 2 weeks prior.

please help!

Why do you have to postpone until August?

4-5 weeks of studying is kind of short (for most people). If you need to postpone, take it during the second week of July. How about July 11? That is still early, and it gives you an extra few weeks.

It is MUCH better to just have to take it once. Trust me. You don't want to study for this thing an extra three months.

thanks for ur input glimmer!

I actually have an exam early july (for the anatomy/phys class) and my brothers wedding (in Australia) mid july.... so I was trying to take that all into account and thats why I arrived at August for the test date. As you mentioned, 4-5 weeks isnt much and thats why I wanted to extend it. What if I aim for end of july, is that better than rushing and maybe not getting a great score?

thanks in advance

I actually did this last year. My DAT was scheduled for June 28th last year, and I simply didn't feel ready (mostly because of AADSAS stuff). I postponed my DAT until July 19th, and still managed to get in.

You should not wait any longer than the third week of July, as AADSAS will take 2-3 weeks to process your scores. My DAT scores weren't on AADSAS until August 8th (7th or 8th batch). I think that was pushing it a little bit, as most schools saw my first set of scores and ignored me. I frequently called the school that eventually accepted me to make sure they were updated, so if you wait this long, be sure to let the schools know when your scores or up (or ask if you can fax the scores in early).
