Hi All,

I just took dat genius's bio exam one, got an 18, even though i personally thought it was pretty tough even though ive been reviewing :/ (I guessed on a lot that I was confused on)
Can anyone give me some inputs on what they think of their material and how an 18 looks like for this exam***in terms of difficulty and what YOU think I should try to improve on? Tbh, I feel like bio is majority memorizing but at the same time understanding. Thanks everyone again

It's difficult to say what you need to improve on based only on a single practice test subject score. I assume you're still pretty early in your DAT review, so for now I would just focus on the questions and answer choices you weren't familiar with and brush up on those topics. How have you been studying for the bio section?

Hi,

The question you asked is not an easy one and I get asked this same question quite often. I don't know of any timed test on the market that will accurately predict 100 percent of the time what you will score on your actual DAT. Through years of working with students I find that some score higher and some score lower than test results. With a score of 18 is does show you have a good working knowledge. I am always concerned when I student scores 16 or below on a timed test, this shows a weakness.

I often hear students say I had a hard version, etc, IMO any test is hard if you don't know the answers.

The only way to be really prepared for the Bio is to work more on learning and less time on testing.

Bio is one of the most challenging because of the vast amount of material you most cover and unfortunately there are no shortcuts to high scores. But as you know, a few more questions correct can make a HUGE difference in your outcome.

Just my 2 cents

Hope this answers your questions.

Wishing you the best..Nancy

different perspective.

think of some job, sport, talent you accomplished and imagine all the hard work that went into it. you never gave up because you knew one day you'll get better at it. some days were easy, some days were hard, but ultimately you achieved that one goal and it made you smile.

these practice tests is just one stepping stone to helping you to do well or best prepare you for the DAT. review, refresh, regurgitate, repeat.

if one concept takes an hour to understand, just do it. don't get frustrated as that will only be counterproductive

Thank you everyone for your input, its genuinely appreciated.
@FeralisExtremum in terms of reviewing, I've read the kaplan bio portion, and the bio section of destroyer. I haven't read any tyjacobs notes yet. For the ones I did get wrong, I wrote them down on some flash cards to go over them again. I plan on going over cliffs
@orgoman22 Thank you Nancy for your advice as well, I do feel that I should just keep reading more material than testing myself .

I'd start with reviewing Cliff's and then expand to the other resources from there (or use tyjacobs notes alongside Cliff's as you go through it). That would establish a much better foundation than Kaplan alone, in my opinion. Until you've gone through Cliff's at least once I wouldn't even attempt practice tests because there will be questions you miss only because you haven't been exposed to the material since your undergrad bio course.
