DAT in the summer after sophomore year?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
it all depends on what you have already completed. Have you done orgo already? maybe a biochem class? gen bio and gen chem for sure. If you have, there shouldn't be anything wrong with that. My cousin did that and did very well on the DAT and this is what i will be doing.

You should take the DAT when you are most ready to take the exam.

If you take a look around the DAT discussions board, you'll see that yes there are a number of people who take the DAT after sophomore year.

I took it the summer after sophomore year and did better than average. I also taught myself orgo 2 and it was my best section.

Now that applications are starting, it feels good to have one major thing out of the way. There's enough stress in the process, so taking it early definitely helped me.

Haha but if I don't get in this year, you might see me change my mind.

I did it after my sophomore year and it was the best decision I ever made. If you have completed organic chemistry its a no brainer.. DO IT!!

If you haven't finished orgo 2 but did do orgo 1.. I would still do it.

If no orgo experience then dont do it.

I took it the summer after Sophomore year and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I think it's a great idea! I wish I did that, cause then I'd have had time to re-take it without stressing about my app being late. But I think that the pressure of knowing that I had to nail it the first time helped motivate me even more to make sure that it wouldn't come down to that.

But yes, if you have taken ochem already, I'd advise taking it summer after sophomore year.
