Hello all. So I have been thinking about the post-bacc I'm applying for and the minimum level of performance I need to attain to be competitive.

The program I'm applying for is a 51 unit program held over 4 semesters and one summer term. With my current uGPA of 2.96 I have calculated the following outcome, based on my confidence in my ability to achieve those grades.

Conservative:
12 Units @ 3.7 GPA + 21 Units @ 3.3 GPA + 18 Units @ 3.0 = POSTBACC GPA: 51 units @ 3.28 ->CUM-GPA: (692.579 grade points / 228 units) = 3.0376 GPA

Stat: cGPA 3.037/ sGPA 3.28 (Assume 100+ hours shadowing/volunteering)
DAT Score: What Minimum Should I Hit?

Optimistic:
25 Units @ 3.7 GPA + 26 Units @ 3.3 GPA = POSTBACC GPA: 51 units @ 3.496 -> CUM-GPA: (703.599grade points / 228 units) = 3.0859 GPA

Stat:
cGPA 3.085/ sGPA 3.496 (Assume 100+ shadowing/volunteering)
DAT Score: What Minimum Should I Hit?

I know I have the study skills and discipline to perform better than my conservative figure - and certainly have the capacity to hit optimistic. I was very honest with myself when deciding how many classes I could get As , B+'s, and B's in.

Real Question: What DAT score would I need to be competitive for a private CA, NV, or AZ D-School with each of my Conservative and Optimistic stat estimations? Thanks!

I would say you should shoot for at least a 22 AA/PAT. Going to be tough to get in, but that puts you in top 95% or higher. Make sure you have good EC's, lots of shadowing, and kill the interview.

@NMC2010 - Is that 22 AA/PAT suggestion for my conservative GPA estimation?

I would assume that most people would provide advice based on me attaining the lower GPA because having the higher GPA can only help. Thank you very much!

P.S.
I like your profile picture. Many of the pre-dents here are doing exactly that, keeping calm and tossing the dice.

Unfortunately, it's for all of the GPA outcomes. ~3.5 sGPA would be awesome, but your oGPA is very important as well, and a 3.08 VS 3.03 isn't too much different. Really though, if you get a 22+ you're giving yourself a fighting chance so long as your GPA is above a 3.0 and your other stats are good.

About the profile pic, he's one of my favorite characters from the Wheel of Time series, Matrim Cauthon. He's a hilarious lighthearted man, but also is known as "The Gambler" because he's literally a gambler at dice/cards, and also a military mastermind (and quite the ladies man) that is always willing to take outrageous chances... even when the odds are against him. And yeah, I like your analogy! As a pre-dent, that's about all you can do right now. Just breathe, give it your best effort, and see what fate has in store for you.

As a side note, you're definitely not alone in your situation. There have been plenty of people here with lower GPAs that knock the DAT out of the park and end up getting in. You can do it!

I'm going to have to check out that series. Thanks for the input. I will keep in mind everything you've said and am sure it'll become very relevant when I begin preparing for the DAT.
