Hey guys,

I plan on taking the DAT in mid-July. I'm enrolled in the Kaplan course now but I have heard mixed reviews. Are the questions actually harder in the Kaplan practice exams?

Also, I feel like Kaplan does not cover all of o-chem.

Any advise on what I can supplement Kaplan with? My GPA (3.35) is poor due to two horrible semesters...looking to do well on the DAT.

Thanks,

Don't rely on Kaplan PAT. CrackDAT PAT (CDP) is very helpful. Also get destroyer. Cliffs for bio. Barron's is pretty good as well. Just depends how confident you are in all the sections.

so is the PAT for kaplan too easy?

I don't know if I'm naturally good at the PAT or if the Kaplan PAT is just too easy?

I have been scoring 26 and above...

some are naturally good. In my first try i did fair amount of PAT from kaplan and scored 22 on real DAT but in RC and QR like other im so not natural.

It really depends which section you're referring to. For example, some of the G-chem and O-chem questions on KAPLAN tests are much harder than anything that will ever appear on the real test. But then, when you compare KAPLAN's PAT to the real thing, KAPLAN questions seem childish! The PAT section (Specially the angle ranking) on the real test is much harder.
You're right! KAPLAN hardly covers all the details you need to know for the real exam, specially in the following fields:

Bio--KAPLAN's Bio does not provide you with all the details you need to know for the real test by any means. But they do have an excellent endocrinology chapter.

O-chem--KAPLAN hardly mentions a fraction of the reaction schemes you need to know for the real test.

Their G-chem section is rather good.
KAPLAN's QR was somewhat harder (at least for me)
KAPLAN's RC was about the same in terms of the length of the articles.

But overall, I think KAPLAN testes are a good representative of what you will get on the real exam. You can try TopScore tests as well. They tend to be very good as well.

I was scoring between 21-22 on both KAPLAN and Topscore tests and I scored AA:22 TS:22 PAT:20 on the real exam. So, my scores were quite consistent.

Best of Luck to You!👍
