I'd like to not show dates of involvement on my CV. For instance, not showing dates (eg. 5/08-4/12) in any given section (memberships, community activities, non profit, memberships, etc). Thoughts?

What's your rationale for doing that?

to save space on my CV, and it'd look a lot better. The downside is that it would't show length of involvement, but perhaps that'd be covered in the interview?

I believe it's customary to include dates of involvement on your CV, which is expected to be lengthier than a resume. You might format your CV like this...

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Research Associate, January 2008-January 2012
Brief description...

A CV or resume without dates is going to look like you're hiding something. When I've interviewed candidates for a position, I ask myself questions about those candidates with ambiguous resumes. In the positions I've interviewed candidates for, we interviewed a large percentage of the applicants, but I could see where in a larger applicant pool, this would get your app tossed. It certainly would have hurt the applicant post-interview if s/he was not forthcoming with the length of time and/or the resume made me question his/her sincerity. (You can bet I am more likely to call each of those organizations and verify things with them if you're ambiguous like this.)
