I know this is off topic, but as a prospective student, I've been wondering, how much dating usually goes on within a medical school class? Are people more open about dating since people are older and have the same interests (medicine)?

Is it common for people within a class to hook up?

Sounds like undergrad 2.0 - hah! Yeah, I know several people who have met in med school and got married. Hence... couple's Match. But if you're simply wondering the commonality of "hooking up", I'm sure there are PLENTY of premed undergrads who would go head over heels for a med student...
 
if you cant get tail in undergrad OP don't think you're gonna get it in med school all of a sudden. Cant imagine it being too common for a tight knit group of professional students to be banging like banjos. Lmao. Many people are in serious relationships, some married, and others just want to focus on their studies I would imagine. Don't understand why this would be such a concern, though med school was about becoming an MD, and fulfilling career aspirations? Try craigslist casual encounters if you're real thirsty. Just watch out for any copy cats of that BU med student a few years back that was killing people.

I think the best bet is to meet someone outside of your med school who respects your busy schedule.
The general consensus is that dating your classmates is bad. Of course, there are outliers, but most MDs agree that the prognosis of medcest is poor.

OP, I wish I had the direct experience to advise you, but I can tell you my partner gets plenty of sexxors and dates and such.

OP, there are a lot of easier ways to find someone.
1. Go to the gym
2. Put down the fork
3. Get better looking friends and pick up their scraps.
4. Don't be awk-a-awkward

Ugh...duh. time to get better looking friends.

They say your friends are a reflection of yourself, so....time to make new hot friends at your new medical school.
 
I can't give first hand experience advice but I'm sure you won't become a player once you step into a medschool classroom.

I'm sure finding someone might be easier for you as you would have matured and you're 21+ but I doubt everybody in MD school are trying to get hitched ASAP.
Their thirst might be quenched the summer before med school.
 
1) Go to a med school who's campus is close by to it's undergrad campus.
2) Sweet talk incoming 18 year old freshman.
3) That's it.
 
I can't give exact numbers, but I'd say every year at least two pairs students in my classes get married, and more definitely are sweeties.

Enjoy that stat rape charge. Don't fuqs with freshman girls that's just gross. And more of them are 17 than what you might think

I'm not condoning his behavior but they are 4 years younger which isn't a huge difference at that age. I mean, maturity wise they are probably really far away so maybe stick to sophomores+?
 
I believe that people exist in different phases of life. It isn't primarily based on age, but it often is correlated. I have found in my own dating experiences that dating someone not in the same phase of life tends to be very challenging in the long run.

In many states the age of consent is 16 or 17.

That said, I see no problem with two consenting adults dating each other as long as there are no extenuating circumstances such as one being the other's boss or teacher.

Yup! The freshmen are just not there yet maturity-wise, and the few that are generally aren't looking to hook up with someone 4-6 years older than them. Even as a junior in college I stayed away from freshmen (though I was a bit older then too). Once they hit sophomore, most of them are more or less "their age." At this point it's just a matter of age (the divide by 2 add 7 rule applies). You still have to watch out though. Dating people in different "stages" of life tends to be tough and very bad for long-term prospects. You might be stuck finishing year MS-3/4 while they ship off to some Masters program across the country.
 
My school is in the same town as the UG campus and I'm not hooking up with anyone :-(. As a medical student you are in your own little bubble that rarely intersects with undergrads.

Dating can probably happen in medical school, the only question is if you want to and can handle the added stress and drama of it on top of med school course work. Also, like high school and college it won't happen if you sit in your room and don't talk to girls. gotta talk to them, get numbers, all that business meh.

The highlight of undergrad was hookups and how easy they were to have. If med school is anything like college w/ all the time consuming stuff and pressure from school, hookups should be pretty common, I hope. Being able to continue hookup culture into med school would be the greatest thing ever.

Okay, now I am going to add my legitimate 0.02 in this thread.

Pretext: I am a graduate student at a large academic medical center with an associated school of Medicine.

I know 6 MD students who are engaged pre-step I. (3 couples, obviously.)
My buddy (a first year) has railed it in about 7 different chicks in the 1st and 2nd year class, as well as a PhD student in my department.

At the medical school I will be matriculating to this summer:
I know that of at least 2 couples who matched together, and 3 very, very in love first year couples.

Stay thirsty my friends.
