I'm interested to know what days of the week people are having their interviews booked for? Also, do you have a choice, or do schools just give you a date?

I'm wondering because I'm applying for jobs now, so that I can work in the interim before fall of 2008 (God willing I get in), and I'm thinking I might have to be considering this factor when looking at job days/hours (God willing I get more than one interview).

Mine have been 1 Weds, 1 Thurs, 1 Fri, and 1 Mon... When you are offered an interview, the school gives you a date. I had to reschedule one, and they were very nice about it. I think the day of week varies a lot according to the school. Some seem to have them only one day a week (i.e., IU-Weds only) and some interview on 2 or 3 weekdays.

Hope that helps! Good luck in your job search!

DCOM will have its interviews on Tuesdays and Fridays, and if I remember correctly, you can choose from a set of given dates, but I don't know for sure. We will be starting interviews on Tuesday and going thru the end of April.

I have interviews scheduled for a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I have yet to be offered an interview on Wednesday. So schools are pretty wide open on the days the offer interviews. Some school say they only interview on Monday and Friday others will say Thursday and Friday, and then you have your schools that get as many of us in as possible in one week.

4 Thursday, 1 Tuesday, 1 Friday. Although I withdrew from one of the Thursday ones. All but one of the schools I've been invited to interview with have offered a number of days, though, ranging from two to five days a week. It really just depends I guess.

Thanks for all the responses! Looks like I'll be looking for a weekend gig!

I've been applying for residential counselor-type positions, but I'm realizing that I might be better off applying for something like a waitstaff position (especially with the weekday interviews). My reasoning is that applying for a long-term job that you KNOW you're only going to be working for 10 months at is pretty crass no matter how you slice it. That said, residential counselor positions turn over more than a pillow on a hot summer night, so I guess I shouldn't be TOO worried.

Anyway, does anyone else find themselves in this 10-12 month work limbo, and what have you done about it?

Yeah you can still choose from a group of dates and they were tuesdays and fridays. The only school that didn't allow me to choose from a group of dates was Lecom-erie and they even allowed me to reschedule.

My husband also got an invite from Erie and a date was given to him. Unfortunately it was for a Thursday when he teaches so he had to reschedule it for almost a month later on a Friday.
