HI EVERYBODY,
I am an indian dentist and am trying to get admission in to a dental school. ITS BEEN HIGHLY STRESSFUL. sometimes i sit and wonder is it really worth to spend 100,000 dollars for a D.D.S degree? B coS all we do there is just wat we did in our 3rd and final yr of B.D.S .i always think of other option too ..getting admission in to an M.S program ...i dont know which is the right path.i am really confused and can anybody help me in making a wise decision.

thanks

hey there......again as heena and several others have told in the post, you gotta do atleast basic research in this site, before you proceed.....your issue is a common one and has been discussed (in detail) several times in the past; please read the first 2 threads in detail and you'll probably get an answer to all your questions....
good luck!
K'jal.

hi
I have read the first 2 threads in detail before ..but my question is differrent.we dont ve money in hand to spend for the DDS ...so we ve to get a loan ..after getting a loan for 100,000 dollars how much time its going to take for us to repay the loan...is it really worth it to take such a risk or do some MS in any subject and get yourself a job ..offfcourse u cant practice in the latter case .i dont know which is right to do .
anyway thanks

Hi BPL,
If you dont have the funds right now and can't get someone to sponsor for your loan then you'll have to wait till that door opens for you. In the meanwhile you can take part 1 NDB. Most loans have length of 20-25 yrs to pay back which starts 6-9 months after you graduate..
If you do only MS you can't practice anyways. BTW if you plan to include cost of living too into your budget, its a lot more than $100,000/-.

hi henna,
thanks a bunch for your info .....so i guess its sensible to get In to DDS and get a loan instead of MS.....SINCE AM NOT A GREEN CARD HOLDER ANY INFO REGARDING BEST PRIVATE LOANS WILL BE HELPFUL FROM UR SIDE
thanks

Its not that u cant practise after MS, u can practise in some states but not all. like if u go thru other threads u will know that texas, Washington State and may be some more places let u practise on specialty. some other states like CA have licensure by credentials where if u do a residency for 2 years and be a faculty for 3 years or practise in other state for 3 yrs u can get the license. also, u can get a 'special kind of license' after 2 yrs in CA where u have to work under some govt. or county based setting for 3 yrs and then be eligible for license.
but the hard part is to get into a specialty program. they have limited seats and usually are filled by american students. but if u are serious, u can give it your best try.

hi sck,

any info wil be greatful.
thanks

Hi bpl77,
About the jobs in govt settings, go to the website www.dbc.ca.gov and then click on "licensure by credentials".. U will find all the info in that under "Business and Professions Code". Hope this helps.

hi sck,
thanks a lot i will do that and get back to you.
