hi everyone, i received an email recently from my state school's dean saying that it has been a while since my interview and because the schedule was thrown off due to COVID, they want to meet and talk about any updates or questions I have. my interview was about 5 months ago, and i have some updates (research got published, tutoring, more clinical volunteering), but is there anything I should really emphasize to the dean? like how my goals really align with the school's mission or that i have built meaningful relationships with mentors from that med school (did clinical research there). also, how much could this impact my chances of getting accepted? i haven't heard of a school reaching out back to meet again after an interview so i'm not sure. @Goro @LizzyM

thanks everyone!

This is a good sign unless it's sent out to everyone on the waitlist. The school is probably gauging how likely you will attend if accepted. Give them your updates, all of which are meaningful, and sneak in a quick pitch of 'why you' and 'why them'. If this is your top choice, I would tell them that you will CTE if accepted (though please only do this if true ಠ_ಠ). Just my thoughts.

Agree 1000% with the bold. from my wise colleague.

It could mean that they're recruiting you, OR that they're simply being polite.

Many (most?) schools don't do this as a courtesy, so either way it is good! They might not be openly recruiting you OP but this is a great sign for the culture of at least the admissions office. And you did yourself a big favor by continuing to make progress on your application so you actually have stuff to update them on.

I’ve head of schools doing this to indirectly or even directly confirm you would attend if in fact they offered you an Acceptance. At this stage in the app cycle, they want to accomplish two things by confirming you would attend. They pretty much reduce the risk of prolonged WL cascade and yield with this Acceptance spot.
