Hey all...just wanted to write this little note on something that I found interesting about the Deans Letters and it being downloaded on 11/1....

Any of you guys tracking applications noticed that some programs have not even downloaded the Deans Letters yet even though it was made available by 11/1? Does that mean anything? I am guessing that it DOESN'T mean anything, but not sure.

Now, the thing that confused me is that some places where I am interviewing at have NOT downloaded while others have.

And the MOST INTERESTING observation, the place I got REJECTED from (BEFORE 11/1) still downloaded my photo AND the Deans letter even though I was still rejected!!

Any inputs

The whole process is crazy! ... and infectious. If you try to understand the maddness behind it all, you too will become crazy... 😀

Same thing happened to me last year.

Programs probably just download all those things in a big bunch, rather than being selective about it.

I noticed that some programs downloaded my dean's letter at 12-1 am! 😱 Now that's some dedicated staff! 👍

The programs cannot look at your photo until after the match, I understand.

Also, I got several emails from various programs assuring me that they were going to adhere to the ERAS rules to hold off offering interviews until November 1st when the Dean's letters are made available.

The funny thing is that I got two interviews almost as soon as I sent my application ( both in Emergency Medicine) and three rejections but other than as described nary a bite until yesterday when I got two interviews and two rejections on the same day.

The funny thing is that one of the rejections came so quickly that I got the idea they had my name on an automatic reject list-server. (Actually, they probably screen for Step scores or something like that to winnow the wheat from the chaff)

Since I applied to 54 programs I am crossing my fingers.

Also, don't try second-guessing the system. You will drive yourself crazy like I did last year. It will work. Most people match either where they want to go or close to it. Those who don't (like me last year) have nobody to blame but ourselves.

I just wanted to clarify that they can open your picture once they invite you for interview as someone did this with me while I was on the phone, she said she couldn't see it until she registered that I was interviewing 🙂

Someone posted that staff was dedicated because they downloaded at 12 at night. But my question is, isn't is automatic, like the computer does it? If on the "tracking" it says it was downloaded, does that mean anything or is it just automatic? I don't really see that it means anything. :luck:

I have noticed that certain programs tend to download stuff at certain times of day. For example, the Cleveland Clinic downloads at the crack of dawn and UC-Irvine downloads in the afternoon. I think it is actually a person who is downloading it (PD?)

😍 A stupid question....

The search is down and I must have had a mental prolapse when this was discussed, but how do I get my picture up on ERAS?

Thank you for being nice and just answering me... 😍

You have to send your pic to your Dean's Office and they will upload it to ERAS.
