I need advice. My undergraduate overall gpa and science gpa was low ( 2.77; 2.1). My grades kind of went up and down since I was going through a lot at the time ( financial hardships, work, family illnesses). I'm currently in a master's program for community health promotion where i have a 3.71. I haven't taken the MCATS yet; I plan on taking a prep course this summer. I just want to know if it is worth it to retake some of my science courses where i received c's or should I just take my chances applying if I receive a score on the MCAT that breaks into the 30's range.

Your best chance for a US MD acceptance would be to take more postbac classes until your cGPA is over 3.0, retaking prerequisites as necessary to get an MCAT of 30+, then apply to an SMP (Special Masters Program) and do well. See the Postbaccalaureate Programs Forum for more information. I agree with Saren that retaking low grades and getting As to take advantage of the DO grade replacement policy would be the most time and cost efficient route to becoming a physician. Some DO schools will consider grad level grades in a non-hard science masters when considering your application, which would help you since you're doing so well now.
