I wonder if the deposit deadline for other schools will pass before nycom even admits its first student?? I hope they realize this and speed up the acceptances. I interviewed Dec. 8th and I feel bad for the applicants that interviewed nov. 17th and are still waiting. NYCOM is my first choice and I have 5 other interviews i would gladly cancel if I knew i got into nycom. Anybody else anxious for Nycom to get rolling??

I interviewed there the 17th of November. I was hammering the admissionins office all week because of that. I definately want to go to NYCOM but if I have to put the LECOM deposit in I will.

Yea NYCOM is taking a long time to decide out fates. I'm not goin to completely bad-mouth them since the girls at nycom are so dam hot.

Yeah every day I'm hoping the letter from nycom is in my mail box... its actually getting me very annoyed..

Just spoken to NYCOM regarding their adcom meeting.... I had my interview nov 18 and they told me today (dec 13) that the adcom hadn't met yet due to staffing problems and that it would be another couple of weeks... suckssss....

That is crazy that adcom has still not met yet since nov. 17th!!!! I interviewed Dec. 8th, does that mean I will probably find out the same time as the nov. 17th interviewees? Wow, i really hope nycom gets their stuff together.

At this rate, we wont find out anything until February which blows like a blower. Oh well, i guess this winter break wont be as exciting as I thought it would be.

My opininon is that they are losing plenty of good students because of this,...oh well !! Good Luck guys

😕 WOW! I cant believe they said the adcom would'nt meet for a few more weeks! When I interviewed in December, they said that they have been interviewing approx 40 students per week. That means, at this rate they need to review ALL of November and ALL of December...over three hundred interviewee's! They are getting REALLY behind. Even if the adcom meets twice a week starting now, how many files can they possibly decide on in one sitting?? I'm starting to think that realistically we wont hear from them for a LONG LONG time. It is unfortunate because many applicants with multiple acceptances will be forced to decide before they get an answer and they will certainly lose a lot of good acceptees. Good Luck all. 👍

i'm still waiting for them to send me my rejection letter.. its been almost a year now!!!! :meanie:

its true, they're behind. but as far as adcomms reviewing files, its probably not as complicated and tedious as you think. i know a lot of schools have a really simple way of scoring application files, point system, you get various amounts of points for your gpa, mcat, quality of EC's and LOR's, they might give you some points for the strength of your undergraduate school as well. adcomms or admissions officers give each applicant this rating. then, they have predetermined cutoffs for deciding who they'll even interview, but then after the interview you're assigned points for the performance of your interview, and they have another set of predetermined cutoffs for basically automatic acceptances. people who are above the cutoff get the acceptance offer. the adcomms spend most of the time reviewing people who are near their cutoff or for determining the actual numbers of acceptances/waitlists to offer. the process can be largely automated.

again, im not sure if nycom actually uses a system like this, but i do know of several schools that do. so it wouldn't be infeasible for them to go through things quickly.

from the students point of view, it sucks to have to wait for anyone who wants to go there. your decision may be coming at a significant financial burden if you're putting down huge deposits to hold a spot somewhere else. but from the schools point of view, they prolly realize they will undoubtedly fill their class with qualified applicants. enough people want to go there that if and when offered spots, they would go, even if having to eat the cost of a $1500 deposit somewhere else. I mean just look at what happens with waitlist movements in april, may and all summer.

Alot of allo schools aren't even rolling, Texas has their match system, in those cases you don't find out til March or even later. and again, then there's waitlists. Nycom will be fine. its ust going to be costly for a few more people who want to go there.

Cool, Thanks for the insight. 👍

This year's interviewing process was later than usual I believe. I am sorry all of you have to wait so long just to hear an answer. The people giving the interviews are faculty at the school, besides from interviewing, they also have to give lectures, do own research, and some work at the health clinic on campus. From a student's point of view, that might be just a matter of "simple" time managment, but when you're actually running around trying to do the millions of things you are required to do, its pretty hard. Therefore, the administration is having a tough time doing the interviews as well as getting a meeting to decide on the "fate" of all of the students already interviewed.

There are a lot of things internally going on at NYCOM that the administration is trying to address in order to improve our education and that takes a lot of man-power already. Cirriculums have to be made and course syllabus has to be reviewed and corrected for redundancy. I am not speaking on behalf of NYCOM admin, but from a student's point of view here at NYCOM. This is what I am seeing. This long waiting process will be well worth of for those that are great candidates already... you will be accepted and your education here at NYCOM in the years coming would be superb.

Just so you know, Interviews started 2nd - 3rd week of november, then there was thanksgiving break, then there was 2nd year block exam which just ended 1.5 weeks ago, and now there is the 1st year block exams. Faculty members are under pressure during that time to review the exam questions, give the exam and then going over the results. Some faculty members are teaching both 1st and 2nd year classes.

So please try to wait for a little bit longer, I am sure those that interviewed early on and expressed their greatest content of wanting to be part of NYCOM will be here next year. My neuroscience class was suppose to start on December 10th, but because the department responsible for teaching neuroscience is also teaching histology given to the 1st year, they don't have enough time to do both. That is how much time is required. So don't be mad if admin didn't get a chance to meet yet. I hope this clears up some misunderstanding about NYCOM. It is not that NYCOM doesn't want you, but a lot of things have been happening and despite their efforts to try and speed things up, its not just a snap of a finger. Goodluck to you all!

NOTE: I DO NOT speak on behalf of NYCOM admin but personal feelings and experience thus so far at NYCOM.
