Hi guys I'm currently trying to decide between whether or not I should pursue a wet-lab/basic science research opportunity (on campus lab) or scribing opportunity (Scribe America) with my limited available time during the next semester. I'm planning on doing a post-bacc program on the couple years after I graduate then take the MCAT and apply.

My stats:
GPA: 3.3
MCAT: not yet taken

My Relevant Clinical & Research EC's:

Children's Hospital volunteer ~100hrs
Employed working with disabled students ~325hrs
Clinical Research Assistant ~500hrs
Medical Assistant (high school) ~400hrs
Behavioral Research Lab ~275hrs

I have the availability to do either but would like to do whatever will help improve my application the most. I personally am not a fan of bench research and would like to know if my current research is satisfactory for MD/DO programs and if pursuing the scribing opportunity would be more worth my time.

Thanks!

Your GPA is what matters right now. Focus on that all this is secondary. Your clinical experience looks similar to scribing, the CRA position is adequate for research. Witha 3.3 you arent applying to top 20 so it is a moot point about the necessity of wet /bench research. I would do what ever would allow you to raise your gpa.

This. Can't agree more.
