Hi! I got accepted in BU, Tulane and University of South Carolina. But I am so confused now which one to decide finally.

I am trying to decide between BU and Tulane. My concentration is Epidemiology. In BU I can complete it within 3 semesters and also dual concentrate (Epi and Health Policy-Management) but Tulane is an excellent option as well. I need to care the university's alumni and networking with Washington based NGOs and other working opportunities.

Also the tuition matters. Received a small merit scholarship at BU while Tulane doesn't offer it at masters level. But then again, does the tuition vary much between BU and Tulane?
USC is considerable on financial savings I guess.

Will be glad to receive your feedback!

It sounds like you've rationalized most of it yourself. All of them are good choices, however BU seems to give you the course structure and networking you're looking for. If you're looking for a more value driven degree and believe you can still get the job you're looking for by being proactive then go to USC. I wouldn't over complicate things and ultimately it comes how risk averse you are with regards to your loans. That's a personal consideration that only you can decide.

Hey thanks! 🙂
Would you please mention some positive and negative sides of MPH (Epidemiology) in both BU and Tulane? I wouldn't mind spending on a degree that gives me positive returns after I complete..which means more financially secured job options in good NGOs or private research sector.

Hi i am a dentist from India. I got accepted into MPH in health policy and management in TEXAS A&M and EMORY university and MPH in Dental Public Health in UMDNJ. I am really confused regarding which one to choose now. Firstly Texas A&M is a good university and fee is also less, living expenses will be way less than new jersey and i can spare more time to study for my National Boards for DDS. On the other hand UMDNJ s offering me MPH in dental public health which is related to dentistry. Thirdly emory has a great ranking but its going to be very expensive. I don know how should i choose?🙄

Both schools have a similar reputation, and hence I would argue against choosing one over the other for this reason. Alumni connections are what you make of them, they don't just issue every graduate a set of connections when they finished the degree. If you complete BU's degree in less time, then that is less time to make those connections and work on projects.

Looking at the different locations it is hard to beat Tulane! I'd have to say that the housing is cheaper in New Orleans. BU, to put it succinctly, is surrounded by urban blight and freezes to the bone in winter. BU has been routinely offering pretty big merit scholarships though, to offset this. Anecdotally, Tulane does a better job of treating their students as individuals.

For now i am just getting admitted to the program. Once i start studying then i would get into research and look for a good internship. Jobs in MPH Health policy and management are health care advisors, policy advisors. administrators in field of health care. All depends on your elective courses, ur academic record etc.
First u need to get gud score in GRE. then make a list of good 15 univs in your range of affordable fee structure. Look for the field of your interest. then choose top 6 or 7 according to your GRE score and fee structure and future job opportunities. Then apply through SOPHAS. thats it. Easy🙂 goodluck👍
