Deciding on School Deadline
Started by icer0ller
No.
Quick, concise, to the point. lol
But really OP, the only dates you need to pay attention to for acceptances are the deadlines each school has to accept or decline the offer. But be nice and try to decide as soon as possible so someone can come off the waitlist at the other school.
Wait, I thought you have to declare to one school by May 15th or something?
Also, by you not deciding, a person on the waitlist is suffering....
But, that's your privilege to stay onto as long as you want.

This is what I'm wondering about -- any deadlines I need to be aware of.Wait, I thought you have to declare to one school by May 15th or something?

I certainly am not going to take any longer than necessary, and want to help those on waitlists, but I need to give myself enough time to decide on a very important decision.

May 15th is the deadline for Allopathic schools.
May 15th is the deadline for Allopathic schools.
so no such thing for DO?
Learn something new every day.
I guess it makes a little sense since MD school seat deposit is only $100.
So once two deposits are paid, at DO schools, deadlines are no longer an issue?
that's exactly what I mean. Just because you make a deposit doesn't mean you are going to go to that school.
There has to be a date when people have to REALLY decide by so people on waitlists can get a spot.

I saw some schools have an additional deposit. I think you can tell by looking at AACOM handbook. I think KCUMB and MU have one for sure. But other than that, I don't think you are required to give up your seat... Of course, it would be rough on those on the waitlist if they were accepted right before or during school. Try to make a decision soon, but don't rush it. Good luck!So once two deposits are paid, at DO schools, deadlines are no longer an issue?
Edit (looked at the AACOM handbook): Seems like a lot of schools have an additional deposit. This is probably to prevent people from holding multiple DO seats.
Whoa, just learned this today too. me heard people quote the May 15th date all over the DO forum, guess its just MD schools then. Wonder how long someone could realistically hold acceptances though before a school is allowed to withdraw theirs.

What the hell is going on...
Why does it show me instead of I?
Edit: Good one SDN.

It actual is. I kinda freaked a bit.

Yeah, it's the first day of class at the school that starts earlier.
Actually, you could probably technically still switch to the school that starts later until they start but it would mess up your loans.
