I have an odd question...Do any of you consider the scope of practice in the states where your choice of school is when you decide?

In other words, if someone picks Cali Sam Merritt the recruiter told me that school will teach ankle, upto knee, surgery and whatever their state allows as opposed to NYCPM where NY only allows practice upto ankle and not sure what else is included so they will only teach that area. So my question is do you guys take that into account when you pick your school of choice that you would like to go to or you just pick schools depending on the education and quality of school, etc?

I don't think any school will teach up to what can be performed. You'll learn everything you need to know. Most of the professors (depending on the school) have practiced in other parts of the country. They'll teach it. Whether or not you can perform it may be a different story though.

All of the schools should teach everything related to podiatry. Scope of practice comes into play later.
As a student and resident, you are working under a physicians license. So, if the doc can do it, he can let you. Usually in the few states where this is an issue, you get the ankle cases with orthopods. That is my understanding.
