hey Dr.
i read in another thread that dental decks is not useful for the new format of the NBDE , because decks dont give much details as the new questions !
Another Dr. said that " just read decks thouroughly " !!!!
any one can confirm this ?
i asked another question before , but , unfortunately no one reply to me , can any one tell me what books i have to read to get a high score ( 90 and above )

Thanks in advance

without preparation you can get 75 score

with proper preparation you can get 98 score ( as one of my friend scored in 2007 format last year and accepted @ boston.)

he read Dental decks, kaplan and previous papers..just 2 times i guess...which we all have and we do...

these are the three things he told me :

read what you have ( decks, previous papers, kaplan)
memorise till the end of exam what you have read
always select the correct answer from what you have read & memorised

so i think he did it with 98 percent accuracy, so got 98..

so stop worrying about what to read and what not to read..and as such there is no technique or formula for scoring above 90...

hope this helps..

good luck

first of all, you CANT pass the NBDE w/o ANY preparations at all. thats completely false. i am just tryin to save people who go in w/ the wrong mentality.

BUT i do agree though that the q-bank was pretty much waste time.. atleast for me. I had no choice but to atleast try it out (since school bought then later billed the tab to us students).

and as for dental decks.... thats pretty much all that i used to study w/ (except for the microbio/pathology portion.. i just used my class notes and best of my memory).

If I had time, which i didnt, .. i wouldve gone over kaplan review book until I felt quite famniliar w/. that book is pretty good for SOME subjects.

and go over all the releasesed exams. i think as many others have listed.. you can only recall and utilize so much before one exhaust themselves and then really be wasting their time because the dont remember what they read the day before.

~my two cents. 👍

i know bunch of guys graduated with me in my home country, they scored 84, even 89 , 91 in part2 with 10 day prep , nothing but decks...

can you beat it,.....

so don't say that you CANT pass boards without prep...all you need to pass boards is (75 %) answer 50 questions correctly...there are people i knew personally with little prep they scored 90+....i even know one of my
uncle's friend who couldnt pass boards after 3 times and just settled as a dental technician since 1995.

so anything is possible....

so my advice to first time takers dont take it too hard....having said that dont take it easy...moderation, i call it....

good luck
