I realized that some of these prof's harbour some deep recentment towards the medical students ergo future physicians...It doesn't matter if they're mudphuds or PhDuh's or even MD's....you know the saying, those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. And those who can't teach pose as graduate school teacher.

Looking at your location it might be the school that you're at that makes the recentment more pronounced.

I don't think it's the location, they're all americans...but thanks for the thought (especially since I considered it myself)

This isn't a grammer class doc...maybe if you are so anal abt grammer you should go into communications and critique people rather than ppl who are becomming physicians. I don't mean to be rude but i've seen you critique people on spelling multiple times on SDN, including myself. I think that is not the issue in the grand scheme of things. Thanks.

Granted that people play fast and loose with spelling on the internet (email and message boards both), but I hope you're not trying to say that grammar and spelling are insignificant for a doctor. Much of what you do will be written, and knowing how to communicate effectively and properly is undeniably important.

I believe the OP was using British spelling, ie harbour instead of harbor etc. I also believe they had the language first.

Oh man, you cracked me up.

I don't believe it was that word that was in question. Look up the word "recentment" and see if you can find it. The word is resentment. The funny thing was the next poster used the same word.

True that. Though the British often use a "c" where we use an "s" (hence defence instead of defense), that would make this word nonsensical, ie it would be recent (as in time frame) not resent (as in emotion).

Legible writing doesn't matter either, unless you want to get the Rx filled as you wrote it.

It is a net forum though . . .

I hope you are being sarcastic....

'recentment' has no place in any language, even the internet.

I think this statement best represents maturity of the opening post.

Tyre instead of Tire

People who are anal about grammar and spelling on the internet can eat me. This is not a formal english class, and if I meet you in real life and your nerdy a$$ corrected my grammar or spelling in person I would bitch slap you. If we were on rounds and you corrected my medical knowledge, then I would say thank you.

What if it was a correction on the pronunciation or spelling of a medical term?

VB
Then it's all good, cause it's medical related. But if they start tellin me not to use "ain't," or not to use me and my friends but my friends and I, then they can kiss my a$$.

I understand people mistakenly using "c" where there is a long "s" sound, but how the hell do you use c when there's a "z" sound?

I wouldn't correct your grammar, I'd just laugh at you behind your back. 🙂

BTW, nobody seems to have mentioned the OP's inability to spell "grammar" either.

You kiss your mother with that mouth? 🙂

No, you're not the OP, and you're also not the one to whom I was talking since you spelled "grammar" correctly. The OP actually didn't misspell grammar, it was a subsequent poster.
