defering a year

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They let you take a year off and still be admitted the next year? What other schools do that?

deferring a year is a $100k penalty...why would you want to do that 😕

Remember, you will give up one year of dental income to defer your acceptance. Not worth it in my opinion

That all depends on the individual and their circumstances. Why is life expressed in terms of a race and what is this 'glittering prize' people are racing for? Becoming a dentist in five years rather than four will have no long term bearing on your professional ability and career. While deferring a year can be measured in monetary terms, there are other things to consider which cannot be calculated by the same standard. For example, if an individual takes a year off to travel, explore themselves and what they are capable of outside of a college campus or a local bar in oder to codify and strengthen their sense of self, they are much better doing that than padding their bank account. Peace of mind and a firm understanding of yourself will go much farther than 100k ever will, plus you can take the former with you while the latter you cannot.

Werd. Well said.
