I got the Navy HPSP and then was deferred for a civilian residency in EM. I feel like I'm a little disconnected from the Navy now. Can anyone tell me what the most likely available billets will be for someone in my position. Will I be assigned to a hospital or the fleet or what? Also, what is the expected pay for a board certified emergency physician? I used to know this stuff but have since forgotten about it. I appreciate the responses.

The best thing would be to pick up the phone and call your specialty leader/detailer during your senior year about 9 months from graduation. I would request that you be assigned to a MTF for your first tour so that you can become acculturated to the military medical-political system.
