😕
Hi! This is my first time posting and I wanted to get input from some people who may have some experience deciding where to go to school.

Basically, I've gotten into two schools for this fall. One is local. The other is further away, but has a curriculum that will likely fit me better. The only problem is that I'm getting married this summer and it will be unlikely for my future husband will be able to find a job in the area that I'm moving to.

Ultimately, my question is regarding if it's possible to defer vet school admission. In this instance, the school in question is UCD.

Thanks if advance! I appreciate all your input!

You really need to call the school to find out the official word and what they will say in your circumstances.

I don't remember which school it was, but I think I had a somewhat similar question and the only reasons they allowed a one year deferment was due to either serious medical reasons or deployment by the military. Never hurts to ask though.

I am exploring this option as well (albeit for quite different reasons). I filed formal petitions for deferment at both UC Davis and Penn. Davis responded that they only grant deferments for extenuating medical circumstances (which my situation is not), but that they would not hold declining admission against me if I chose to re-apply at a later date. Penn is more than happy to allow me to defer my acceptance with a $500 deposit. So, it seems to change quite drastically from school to school. Try calling/emailing the admissions department, explain your situation, and see what they say. Good luck!
