In order to specialize in the dentistry field (ex. orthodontics, endodontics, surgeon, etc.), must you have a separate bachelors degree? Or is it possible to specialize with a combined BS/DDS degree?

You definitely need a B.S./B.A. for some of the specialties, as they award you a M.S. However, a combined B.S./D.D.S. is essentially the two seperate degrees, so having that is certainly no problem.

To be sure OP should check with the school that offers the MS to find out what the requirements are. To my best knowledge you do not need a BA/BS to get a MS in the health professional curriculum. All required is a DMD/DDS. This is why degrees in medical field is reversed as opposed to academic degrees. DP
