Hi,
I finished my primary applications for medical schools for this year and my supplementary applications are arriving in waves. I obtained my committee letter last year but did not apply for admissions then and thus still have a copy of the letter stored on interfolio. I submitted a request for an update to the health committee letter this year but the new letter will most likely not be ready until the end of August. Will this delay hurt my chances for admissions slightly? I was informed that the new committee letter will not be too different from last year's(and the only main thing I updated was that I now have an MCAT score). Would it be all right to send in my committee letter from last year or should I wait? I realize that my application will not be complete until all the LORs are submitted. Is there an option to send in my committee letter from last year and then update the schools with the new committee letter when I receive it? I welcome all replies and truly appreciate them! Thanks in advance!

Late August is not late. But if the only thing they added was your MCAT score then what's the point of waiting? Med schools know your MCAT score without your committee letter.

The other thing I was worrying about is that the date for when I received the committee letter would be from August 2010. Would that be looked at negatively? Is there an option to send in last year's letter and then update the schools with the new letter once I receive it?

I posted this a while ago but can anyone else provide some advice? Thanks!
