Almost done with the KBB (I have both the 2012 and last edition, and both are RIDDLED with errors/typos) and just felt like typing this up here since you guys are going through the same thing I am. I'm a little behind on the schedule I made for myself, and I've been procrastinating a little lately, but I'm not worried yet. Plan on finishing up this book, and blowing (I mean 80+ pages a day) through Cliff's Bio, so I can start taking practice tests on Monday.
I'm going through SDN right now trying to find target scores for Kaplan Practice tests, DatQVault, and Achiever. (I like to set goals, kind of helps me get through these rough spots.) SUCKS that TopScore is only for PCs... but I guess I'll be fine with those.
As far as the actual DAT goes, I'll be satisfied with a minimum of 18 on every section, shooting for a minimum of 20 on every section. (18 seems to be the highest cutoff out of all the schools, which in that case, seems like a solid score to fall back on.)
Deciding whether I have time to watch the Heat game tonight... : (
Probably not...Little over 3 weeks left...
Thanks Elliot!
And Dymm, as far as the game went, I just decided to watch the highlights (Almost the same, right? haha)
I ended up taking my first Kaplan practice test today, and got above a 20 on everything except for GC, OC, and QR. I'm still slow in terms of speed, but I actually feel pretty good, since I still have a good amount of time left to get stronger in all of those areas. Just have to keep chugging along.
Starting Destroyer tomorrow (Pray for me...), and I'll probably start Achiever/TopScore next week so I don't take a huge blow to my confidence before I'm ready.
QUESTION:
Is it worth it to get ADA 09? I don't mind spending the $40, but is it any more valuable than the free ADA 07 already is? (I kind of already know what answer I'm going to get haha)
Push through man you got this!
And yeah KBB is terrible. I have only used it for Bio so far but it is TERRIBLE at explaining things (I have the 2010 version so it at least has less errors.) It will often have key vocab words in bold and then not even describe what they are. Might as well use wikipedia. Cliffs AP bio is great and so worth it for $10. I have been getting through 3 to 4 chapters of Cliffs a day just because it is so much easier to understand and it is easier to push on when stuff is making sense. If some of the chapters are your weak areas try outlining those ones. I did this with plants photosystems and it helped a lot and plus it makes a nice outline for you to review.
Good luck!
whats wrong with it?
Cristae not accounted for, nor are the pores in the outer membrane or the carrier proteins in the inner membrane. The two diagrams of fig 4-2 are dead wrong in their crudeness/ vulgarity in this respect. Oversimplified to the point of being misleading.
That said, I am approx. 2/3rds through Cliffs and this is the only glaring error and ommission I have identified thus far. I think Cliffs is great overall 👍
