I am a 26 year old reapplicant, GPA is low at 3.0cgpa/sgpa and mcat is 514 (taken last July). I have great clinical employment and volunteer experiences. I didn't have a physician LOR when I applied last year. I just received a LOR from an osteopathic IR doc that I shadowed this past summer, and I really want to pull the trigger on all these secondaries I have waiting. However, I also shadowed an osteopathic pediatrician this summer who lately has been flakey in getting me into her clinic and not really responding to my inquiries for a LOR. I don't think I'll get a letter from her before November.
Is a letter from a primary care doctor like my pediatrician more valuable than a specialist like the IR doc who already wrote me a letter? They are both DO graduates. Perhaps I can update with the ped letter in a couple months. But I am worried about waiting longer than I already have. Any input from accepted students would really be appreciated.
