Just thought I'd write a little review on the Dell 700m since some people are looking for laptops. If you want a small laptop, this is a great computer. It has a 12.1 inch screen and is very light (just over 4 pounds). Its great so far.

The specs:
Inspiron 700m
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 755(2 GHz/400MHz FSB) 12.1-in WXGA, Microsoft® Windows® XP Home
SCREEN: 12.1-in WXGA (1280 X 800)
MEMORY: 512MB DDR SDRAM 2 Dimms
HARD DRIVE: 80 GB Hard Drive
CD ROM/DVD ROM: 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
WIRELESS: Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)
SECURITY SOFTWARE: 36 month subscription to McAfee for virus and spyware. I ended up getting this b/c my old computer was rotting due to spyware I couldn't get rid of.
BATTERIES: One normal (about 2.5 hrs, one extended (4-5 hrs).
WARRANTY:2Yr Ltd Warranty, 2Yr At-Home Service, and 2Yr Technical Support
SOFTWARE: I got the barebones. Don't get software from dell, its a ripoff. I got Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition (which is identical to the standard edition, but only sold to students and teachers) for $110 vs $230 if you buy it with the computer on Dell.
PRICE: $1150 Pre-tax. Do not buy a dell without a large discount. This was a $750 discount on laptops over $1900. Dells actual prices are highly inflated. If you go to websites like slickdeals.net or cheapstingybastard (search for it), they will alert you to the good deals. You can get a lesser 700m for about $700.

Heres my take:

Positives: Very portable. I can take this thing along with me without a second thought. Its small, light, and has good battery life (about 5 hours with extended battery, which I recommend). The screen is small, but very nicely made and very bright when plugged in. Th price of this min computer is pretty good. You can get a bare-bones one for 700 or so and a much more loaded one for 1100 or so. Compared to other 12 inch computers from Sony and Toshiba, this is a great price. I bring it to work with me and almost everyone who sees it asks about it and wants one.

Negatives: No dedicated volume control buttons. Cheezy speakers. The keyboard is a little small, but I've gotten used to it pretty quickly. If you have very big hands, you will probably hate it.

I will post pictures later. I'm very happy with my choice. I thought about an i-book but I got so much more for my money in my opinion. Plus I've been using PCs since I was 5 years old (back when there was only DOS and no hard drives).

yup. this laptop is very nice. my only complaint was the small keyboard. i am a fast typer and i managed to stumble across the keys several times (i have small hands btw). this laptop is ultraportable and a nice bargain at that.
