Dense Physics Topics like Circuits and Magnetism

The more I read the kaplan book on these topics the less I understand [even with the kaplan classroom lecture], would it be wise to wait till I actually learn these topics in lecture with a professor as I'm currently taking physics 2 or try and plow ahead?

I'm pretty much finished content reviewing everything else, and have done a bunch of problems/passages on gen chem,bio, orgo and the rest of physics, so would it be best to just leave these topics aside for now and move on to practice tests?---I'm signed up for a late may test date.

it depends on a couple things. when will your physics class hit the material? I'm in physics 2, and we've learned all the magnetism and circuit stuff already. I think the only thing left is optics. Then again, my class ends like the first week of may. how early you start fls depends on how many you plan to do. If you want to do 10, with 1/week, then start late march. Generally, you should have content down before fl's. However, since you have everything else mastered, you could do non aamc fls. Doing the official ones will sort of a waste because the score (when content isn't done) won't be representative. It also depends on when your kaplan class covers it. They're not going to match with your physics class's schedule, so might as well read ahead/learn on your own.

Circuits and magnetism are important concepts on the contrary I would suggest TO MOVE ON! but definitely come back to it! Circuits is a HUGE proportion of Physics 2. Just wait till you cover it in class and than go over those topics. Physics 2 can be any where from 25-50 % of your PS section and Circuits, optics , Power are MCAT favorites. I would hate for you to miss a whole passage (Possibly 2 points on the PS?) just because you didn't fully comprehend circuits. Remember never leave any weaknesses on the MCAT........

I had a terrible terrible Physics 2 teacher and had to re-teach myself everything. If you think it'll help you out then wait, but don't forget that you'll go into much greater detail in a college physics class than what's required for the MCAT. I also think you should buy the Princeton Review Hyperlearning Physical Science books or TBR Physics 2 book. They are so much better than Kaplan. I have all 3 companies and there is no comparison in the quality and the way the info is presented.

Also, it's important to re-read these chapters over and over until you have a grasp. Then find questions online or get the EK1001 physics book (it's cheap) and do those questions until they're super easy.

I found it really helpful to read/take notes and then see if I could explain the topic and rewrite everything without looking at the book or my notes. If you can do that, and repeat it a few days later, you'll know you have a firm grasp on it.

You'll be alright circuits is easy, you gotta know basic concepts like v=ir and kirchoffs rules,the difference between parallel/in series,etc.

I did, too. I think I learned a lot of Chinese, but not physics. Now, 2 years later, I'm re-learning.
