Hello,
I believe the general entering GPA for dentistry is between 3.0 and 3.5, whereas for MD it starts at 3.4. What have you found?

Thanks,
Kat

The best that I can find is by comparing schools that have both medical and dental schools. I think you will find that generally there is .2 difference. This especially holds true for the state schools, along with some private schools, that have both. For instance, in my state, the U of Illinois -- Medicine Scool's last entering class's "mean" GPA was 3.44, while the corresponding dental school class was 3.22. then at Harvard, the entering med GPA was 3.8, while the dental was 3.55. Almost the same dif.

I know what you mean about being unsure. I am still waffling between the two -- I have a passion for both, and I mean it. It is only natural i guess. In fact, reading Harvard's guidelines, they have the dental students with the med students for the first two years in their "Pathway" cirriculm, side by side. In addition, they make a point of saying in their introduction that dentistry is just a subspecialty of medicine, and offer a DMD degree, not a DDS. they are really trying to bring dentistry back under the "medicine" umbrella. Like ANY of us forgot that!

Im still amazed by the point @tooth knockn shed light on, people using internet in the 2000s with box computers, and better yet browsing SDN forums lol.
