I'm wondering is the dental radiology a specialty? I read it somewhere stated that it is, but I couldn't remember where I got that information. In fact I have seen one school it has a post-doc radiology program with MS degree in oral biology or something. But when I asked my dentist (the one I’m shadowing right now, btw I’m pre-dental) he said "no". I just want some clarification in this matter from all of you who know more than I do. Any input will be appreciated it!

I'm pretty sure it is a recently recognized specialty. I think I heard of this change in my last year of D school.

I found this web site (http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/specialties/specorgs.asp) that listed all the specialty national organizations. Go to this site, click on "American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology," and you'll find some contact info. I'd email the guy listed as the organization contact: Dr. Michael K. Shrout ([email protected]). It says he's the executive director. He should be able to answer all your ?s.

Good luck.
