dentists in hospitals

Do the majority of dentists prefer working in private practices, or is it about the same number in the hospitals. What are the benefits of a dentist working in the hospital. How often are they on call? And how much does a dentist make working in a hospital opposed to opening his/her own private practice? Also, are there many job opportunies for hospital-based dentists, or are they very hard to get?
