Is there a place on ERAS where you indicate that a particular LOR is a department/chair letter? The only thing I see on ERAS is the checkmark option for "This LoR Author is a Program Director in a current/previous residency or fellowship where I trained". Some of my classmates have been checking this off but as I read it, it's saying that this is a PD from a residency or fellowship YOU TRAINED AT....

I made a note for myself which was the departmental letter, but I don't think there's a specific way to designate it on ERAS. I'm just going on the assumption that whoever is writing the letter has indicated that it's a departmental letter... since I've never worked with the person writing my departmental letter clinically, I think that's a fair assumption to make.

You can put it in their title on the LOR cover forms

John X. Smith, MD
Professor and Chair, Dept. of Y

I am applying for Family, can I use a LOR from Ob/gyn
