Can I match to dermatology with HPs & Ps + lots of research and community service?

Look at the match results from last year and see where you're at on the curve. S2 score is more important but so is research.

You can of course. You should go for honors in IM and your derm rotation though (and surgery if you can). Getting anything other than honors in a derm rotation is a bit of a red flag.
do you mean the derm rotation during M4?

I couldn't honor IM or surgery I got P in both, do you think I still have a chance with derm?I mean would lots of research help in my case?my school uses percentile to determine H,HP &P in addition to other quizzes and requirements which makes it harder to honor

When we get apps, we obviously see reports of clinical grades. We do take them with a grain of salt a bit (at least I do) with the knowledge that different institutions grade differently, different rotations grade differently, and even different attendings grade differently.

You can still match into derm. It's like asking "Do I need AOA to match derm?" No, of course not. Does it make your app look better and make it more likely that you may be offered more interviews? Sure. Does it mean you won't match derm if you don't get AOA? No.

Dermatology is a very "relationship-driven" field meaning that who you know, or who knows you, is very important. Clerkship grades are much less important than who writes your letters of recommendation, where you do elective and away rotations, your grades in dermatology rotations, and dermatology research and letter from that experience. Additionally, choose your signals wisely! Good luck!
