Looking through the handbook, I don't see anywhere where I can explain some of my courses. I have taken two semester of IDEAS lab, which is basically the biomedical engineer's equivalent of biology lab, especially since most schools consider it as such. Will AMCAS just look at the BIOM labeling and not count it towards my BCPM, or will they actually look into what the course requires? The first semester is pretty much straight biology lab techniques (PCR, western blotting, staining, etc.) while the second semester is mostly biotechnology (ultrasound, ECG, catheters, histology, etc.).
Also, I have done two semester of research which also has a BIOM labeling, but I did it in a nephrology lab, not within the BME department. I'd like to count this as BCPM also, and of course I'll have a lengthy description of it in my activities section, but will that be sufficient enough for it to be considered BCPM and not just overlooked?
Thanks!
