I had to chime in with my advice.
I am now about to impart wisdom, and dispense with harsh insight. As I seem to recall from a high school drug-induced trance, some call them "deep cuts".

I am an elder spokesman for broken undergraduate history. I have a distinguished record of struggling (although not as proficiently as you seem to have) in my early college years, but I overcame.
How?, you may ask.

I aspired to other goals, and failing those, I settled on the completely achievable dream of professional school (granted it's not M.D., but nonetheless, an important and analytical profession that requires critical thinking, and has a competitive admissions process with identical prereqs, to boot).

I married and had a child. It's impossible to diminish the realization of knowing that a life depends on your well-being and fortitude. (This is not an indictment of singles--just to point out where my maturity factor is derived from).

I found, within myself, the desire to perform and to excel. None of my Ochem/Bio/A & P/Chem/Biochem/Micro classes were graded lower than a "B" when I decided on my present course.

I struggled in society in many employed job functions, and I was eminently dissatisfied.

So far, this is what I've learned about you:

1) I see a consistent pattern of failure and blaming others for it.
2) By stating that something is "waay to hard", you are, in essence, stating that you are not, at this point in your life, consistent of the fiber necessary to become a physician.
3) You are immature.
4) You don't apply yourself, and are not undertaking your commitment in any kind of serious manner.

Here's what your future may hold:

1) You may grow and learn and try. In doing so, you may succeed.
2) I would agree with those who state that some worldly experience would be beneficial to you, and if, at a later date, you decide you will be an M.D., then at that time your aim will be true, and your work will be an indication of a life turned-around.
3) There is no hurry. Take it from someone who will be up-in-years before embarking upon my life's career: You have time to turn things around. After graduation, if you still have a less than desirable transcript, you can take post-bacc classes and perform.
4) It would be beneficial to minimize the other distractions (friends, drugs, alcohol, television, concerts, whatever is adding to your ADD) which prevent you from putting-forth your full effort. Remember, sometimes "friends" (all those who commiserate with you at each failed attempt at a test or quiz; those that find fault in your educators) really turn-out to not be looking out for your best interest, but are seeking others that they can relate to in their own misgivings.

Someday we'll all get there, for some of us, it just takes a little longer.

I fthat is impression you are getting, then u are totally wrong. i am up all night, literally studying my ass off and still get sucky ass grades. i dont knwo what teh problem is but i am going to find out. also, one more thing, if you dont the person, dont judge them!

OMG! drugs, alcohol, ADD??? what the **** are u talkuing about???!!!!!+pissed+ do me a favor and dont freaking judge me, b/c u think u know what type of person i am! i have NEVER ever done drugs, or DRANK alcohol or anything. if you dont belive me, then i could care less. i dont need ot prove anything to you guys.

i remmeber one sdner saying, that you are jealous of me, for being soo young and soo determined and ambitious. i am thinking that is true.
 
if you are up literally studying all night, studying a lot, and still getting bad grades -- and you have taken steps to improve your study habits -- then i cant see how you would succeed in med school.

I guess you also need a little work at reading comprehension because he/she wasn't trying to judge you...just basically giving you some darn good advice. +pity+
 
Silver_eyes continually posts here lost, confused, and looking for advice, but she rejects all of the good advice she gets from us. What would you have us do, Silver, take your exams for you?

You are ridiculous yet entertaining. Why do you have to be a doctor?

If you're struggling at this point, you need to reevaluate. You're a pain and unappreciative and self-centered. Horrible qualities for a doctor. You can't take care of yourself, how do you expect to be able to take care of other people?

All these people are trying to help you as best they can and all you do is WHINE. You're way too sensitive and preteen.... too immature.. it's no wonder you don't do well in school. If you think med school's gonna be easier, you're clearly insane.
 
For some reason, I am continually drawn to this forum of SilverEyes' whining. Very very entertaining and kills time too.

SilverEyes, it seems that there is a problem that lies within you that we cannot help you with. If what you said is true, it seems to me that you are not cut out to be a doctor. I'm sorry, but if you want my honest opinion, this is what I think. Maybe you should start fresh at another school, or go to tutoring if you still think that you can do these subjects that you have failed.

silver, who on earth ever said that staying up all night studying was the way to learn?? it's about QUALITY studying, not quantity. i'm sure your school has a study skills center, and it's most likely a free service. go there, listen to what they say.

and for heaven's sake stop whining. if you want to be treated like an adult, act like one.

You'll do well on the reading comprehension portion of your MCAT.

1) I was using ADD in a figurative sense. There are many activities that can distract you from focusing on a given task. All of us, in one way or another, are subject to lack of concentration. Just figure out what it is that prevents you from seeing things clearly.

2) Lay off the crack. Your uptight response seems like a reaction to an amphetamine. I was way off base with my narcotic suspicions--I'm sorry. (BTW, look at #1 to get an idea of what I may or may not be saying).

3) Re-read what I wrote. My underaduate "friends" did little to enhance my overall education; they succeeded, rather, in undermining my goals. (Not that I blame them, but to escape them empowered me to define myself, to think on my own, and to reach inside to fulfill expectations which I could've strived for long ago.)

4) It looks like your doomed to repeat some of my mistakes. Oh well, I gave it the old "college try". Now I can sleep tonight with a clear conscience knowing that I gave my all to a worthy cause. That you refuse to acknowledge the true gift of my word, now, that's on you.

Well Shoot, I said I wasn't going to post on this thread anymore, but I needed a laugh. Silvereyes, I've tried to be very supportive with my advice, but now you've gone and ticked me off. You are giving young applicants a bad name. You must realize that whether or not you are intending to come across as irresponsible or immature, it appears to others that you refuse to take responsibility for you own shortcomings. Then you try to tell the people giving you advice that they are just jealous of ambition.

Well, as someone who couldn't possibly be jealous of a "soo young and soo determined and ambitious person" let me tell you something about the older applicants.

As a younger-than-average applicant, I've learned that non-trads often have more life experience than we do. They deserve our respect because they are more than willing to share those experiences. Many of the challenges that they've already faced we will face in the years to come.

Ambition is not something that non-trads lack. It takes much more abmition to give up a career and go through medical school with a family to consider. As I prepare to start medical school, I think about how lucky I am to have little to no responsibility. Younger students with no children, no spouses, no financial obligations have the luxery of being a little bit selfish. Non-trads to not.

To the other posters on this thread, please do not judge the rest of us young applicants based on the attitude of silvereyes. Many of my med school bound friends are younger than average applicants, and although I've heard some whining, we take responsibility for our own actions and shortcomings.
 
Just a quick question: Does UOP == University of Phoenix? Did someone actually fail a class at that UOP?

UOP does NOT equal uni of pheonix

UOP= university of the pacific. a private uni in the central valley, california. as people here like to call it, "the stanford of the central valley" and "the hidden gemstone"

Well if you remain in a seated position long enough intensely studying, your ass will slowly fall asleep. Soon, circulation will be cut off and one's ass tissue will suddenly begin to necrotize. As more hours pass by, the ass tissue will begin to break off from the points where circulation is being cut off and literally fall off. It is an incredibly dangerous phenomenon and is why people are always told to take a 15 minute break every 2 hours or so when studying.

Yeah, so I hate to get involved...but....for real...silver, I have read the threads but this is my first ever response to you...I can't resist because it is like looking in the mirror...oh to be young and so full of pride again 😉
honestly you have a lot of work to do...but dont be in a hurry, you are young. Am sure you dont want to be an old fogey like me when you enter med school (am 25 y-o) but I was once in your position...bright eyed and full of hope with a 3.1 BCMP and 3.4 overall and a 24 MCAT, failed Biochem had to retake to get a spectacular C...just squeaked by in Physics with Bs and got Cs in both sems of Orgo!!!!! ....I applied right outta undergrad...didnt get ONE interview (applied to like 30 schools or something). I did a yr of grad school classes (all science) along with research, re-applied one yr after graduating UG....NO INTERVIEWS!!!!
So, I went to grad school got myself a MS-micro (4.0GPA) awesome research and a little better MCAT (27) got 5 interview and 5 waitlists and wasa fortunate enough to get into wayne state a month ago.
Yes, I am a far cry from 20 y-o....but heck I've feel like I've lived a lifetime,I was able to to a new city to go to school, met some great people, and grew as a person...no doubt my experiences will help me in my future profession. Did it hurt my pride that I "could" be a doc by now had I gone straight thru...yeah, a little. But what I have gained these past 4.5yrs I never imagined at the tender age of 19-20 when I thought I was SCREWED in undergrad.
SO....if medicine it what you truly want to do cool...but dont get discouraged if it doesnt happen right away, because it may not. i can see why some ppl are responding to you a negatively after all you DO bring this up periodically, but pls take my advice to heart, because I feel for you. Just realize there is a long road ahead of you...and that there are other paths to take should you choose to not pursure it on day.
As for studying your ass off and still doing badly in classes...that is a serious problem...I think others have already talked about study skills and how you can become a more effecient studier....might want to seriously consider it. And I dont know about your prof who is biased against you...but I had an Ochem prof who i thought hated me and that was why i got Cs...but looking back it was all on me and she ended up being my greatest ally in my quest for med school in the past two yrs...
Anyway, hopefully you can see where I am coming from and that my words have helped if not i just wasted 10 minutes!!!!

May I please ask what your cumulative GPA is?? Just by looking at your listed grades, I'd have to estimate its a 2.9, it not lower than that. Just curious.

Please help me. I don?t know what to do. I trust you all. I made most if not all of you are doctors and have made it this far. Please help.

You posted the details of your school work and there's another thread with tons of info about you. obviously you're either not getting the answers you want here, or you just don't listen to people's advice. when you post on an anonymous forum you will not get life saving advice, which apparently you need at this point. if you want answers, go read the **** people wrote to you a few months ago.
