Hello everyone:

I am hoping to accumulate a list of about 20-25 medical schools were I would have a good chance of getting in. I would appreciate any help and I thank anybody in advance for their contributions.

I applied this past year to a total of 15 Schools including all the Florida schools and I did not get an acceptance at a single Medical school (I am still waitlisted at Tufts but I do not think It will happen). I got a 28N on the MCAT and my overall GPA is 3.45 and my science GPA is 3.4. My EC's are clinically strong, I have extensive patient contact as well as a lot of medical business experience (I was a Claims agent for about 4 years), no research experience though. I got to the US when I was 10 (I am Hispanic, If any one is wondering) and speak Spanish and English fluently. I am planning to retake the august MCAT but I want advice based on the numbers provided here.

Thank you all

👍 👍

MCW, The Philly schools, GW, Albany, Tulane, Creighton, Loyola, NYMC...depends on where you live as well. You should be able to get in somewhere

I am living in south Florida right now 🙂

Thank you arsenic, everybody else..... keep them coming

Instead of applying to more schools, I would recommend applying to fewer schools, and putting more effort on secondary applications. It will be difficult to fill out 15 secondaries.

just my two cents!

P.S: I am applying to 6 schools this year. We will see how it works out.

Try the OH schools as well...

I applied to 32 schools and filled out 32 secondaries it really was not *that* bad IF you stay on top of it..

Especially BU's "secondary" which is just a check for $100. 🙂

My advice: Apply early. You should be getting ready to transmit your AMCAS now. Your recommendations should go out as soon as possible. Apply to all the Florida schools and other schools based the number of out of state matriculants at the school. Write a personal statement that makes the reader cry and say "this is the one."

Yup that is exactly what I did and it worked like a charm. All my secondaries were finished even before the semester really kicked in and I started interviewing in early August...the early bird gets the worm....first acceptances October 15....priceless.
