While filling out some of my secondaries they ask why you want to attend.... Of course i put the reasons why I like their school but did anyone else put weather as another for attending a certain school?😎

One may choose to live a particular part of the country for the climate, but one would hope that the choice of ds has more to do with their academic/clinical notoriety rather than a lame reason.

If only there was a ranking of schools..... but I agree about there having to be more reasons than that.

For me weather does play a small role in where I would like to live for the next four years, but I wouldn't include it in your application. Maybe you can mention it, during interviews if it comes up?

Climate is definitely something to mention, although it should supplement more legitimate reasons as was mentioned above. I sort of joked about climate changes in many of my secondaries and interviews.

Haha, yeah, being from California, and being the "guy from California" at most of my East Coast interviews, it came up constantly if I'd have a problem with the East Coast Weather, and you just try to be humorous with it.

Like was said, you're going to be living there for the next 4+ years. Climate is important esp if you hate the cold, like me, and you want to attend somewhere warm

Thanks for all the comments... I definatly agree that this should not be a main reason because there are alot of dental schools with warm weather. However, the dental school i want to write this to is my number one pick. Although it my not be the "best" (whatever that means) school that I am applying to, I definatly feel it fits me the best and would consider it over other schools for several reasons including academics, clinical, and weather. I thought weather might be important also because some people want to apply to schools and never been exposed to the extreme weather "HOT" and dont realize that cant handle it until its too late. I think I may use it if I can make it fit in my paper so it sounds honest and sincere.

Climate is a legitimate reason totally! Heck, weather is directly proportional to attitude...which will directly affect study habits...and bla bla bla...🙂
