The threads seem to be far and few these days..

Just trying to stir up some posts 🙂

So did anyone see any weird outfits during the interview?
I remember just seeing a sea of black (me included) but I wore a hot pink blouse underneath. 😛

Did you do anything to stand out?
Did you even WANT to stand out (through fashion)?

This girl was in the elevator with me and she had on the same exact suit!!! Well black of course but it was in the same exact cut. Ann Taylor had a big sale for two weeks or so right before the interview. It was a little embarrassing since I pointed it out right in front of both our student interviewers. 😳

well, i didn't see anything weird. but during each interview, i saw at least one person come in too casual. esp my interview at western, a girl (who came in late) showed up in jeans and t-shirt .... wonder how her interview went

jeans and a t-shirt?? are you kidding me?? Maybe her luggage got lost! I dont think anyone in their right mind would do that intentionally.

I did see someone wearing a white suit with black high boots. She didn't get in.

I am wearing the exact same outfit - if I get an interview, of course! How do I know? Because that's the only really professional outfit I own - and I hate shopping.

It is comfortable, looks nice and makes me feel good.

I've been a student/worked in a super casual environment too long. I need some clothes, but I hate the mall!

Virtually everyone was wearing black. Kinda reminded me of a funeral.

I heard that type of comment from the administration when I went to interview a few years ago. It's so very true.

I think you want to stand out a little bit. Not an electric blue suit or anything but an unsual tie or brooch that shows that you have a little personality. I think I may go for grey or camel.

I remember reading your response in the interview feedback section.

Did you graduate from MWU-CPG a few weeks ago? If so, congrats!!!

When are you planning to take the NAPLEX? Did you already interview for jobs or are you doing clinical?

I wore a dark blue suit with a light blue shirt and tie and there was another cat there with the same fit except with a darker blue shirt.

Thanks! I did just graduate June 3rd.

I have not scheduled to take the NAPLEX yet. The school just released my final transcript to the State Board yesterday. Hopefully I'll get my letter to take the test in another week or two.

I do have a job lined up already. Almost everyone in my class had a job by February, if not earlier, regardless of the career path taken (retail, hospital, military, nuclear, residency, etc).

Sorry to temporarily hijack a thread on clothing....

for some reason i thought the guys in suits were hilarious.

why?

these were guys i saw everyday in class wearing t shirts and shorts and there they were in suits looking slightly uncomfortable.

But everyone in my group was dressed sensibly

I remember Tom Rock's socks. I love them. He got in at UCSF.

I wore a black suit with a lime green (hey it was spring!) shirt underneath.

Did anyone see people with piercings or visible tattoos? I've taken out all of my piercings at this point (except for gauged ears but you can't tell that with the right earrings) and was wondering other than creative ear piercings what all was out there.

Although I didn't see any piercings, I did notice the plethora of fizzy hairdos.

I was wearing a navy pinstripped blue suit dress with a leaf brooch. Does anyone remember seeing me at an interview? 🙂

ya ya ya.. that's the one!! they have other flavors also (tangerine, blueberry, mango, and cherry).. cheapest i found it was for $2.50 a bottle.

blueberry juice.. mmmmmmmm... im supposed to be allergic to blueberries.. (G6PD deficient) - and to make this thread pharmacy related.. Im supposed to not take other meds too!! i hope i dont die..

Hey which of the flavors of the POM is the best? I tried the cherry and pom and it was kind of bitter.

Yes they are "different".. i think it's because it's sooooo concentrated. Dont call me weird but sometimes I just add water and it tastes lighter 🙂

Maybe you should try bacardi and pom. 🙂

haha yeah. i've always liked wearing something unique. my shirt/tie combo was pretty out there. pattern on pattern. but i couldn't find any socks to match so i ended up wearing these crazy striped socks. the problem was that they didn't go with my shirt/tie but i figured that the interviewer wouldn't see them. i was mortified when i found out that i wouldnt be sitting at a table between my interviewer and i. a few times i saw the student interviewer look at my socks with a puzzled look on her face! haha, but i guess it doesn't matter now.

tom

for my first interview, i forgot to take out the white string holding the vent on my black jacket closed. somewhere else, a guy didn't know that he should take the "100% wool" tag off his sleeve. it was raining the day i was at ucsf, but i was the only person who carried a coat around the whole time. i never did figure out what everyone else did for jackets/umbrellas...maybe there was some secret coat check. i think university of the pacific had the least well dressed interviewees; i saw some clunky platform sandals, not matching jackets-skirts, and an oversized hand-me-down suit. look sharp for interviews!! you'll feel more confident and have one less thing to worry about.

I was wearing a brown pin-stripe suit, because when I got an interview letter, all the stores I went to didn't have anything black or gray.

Or if they did have black, they were ugly to me.

Not to mention, I wore black rimmed glasses. I thought I kind of looked funny, but oh well. I just remember feeling funny because everyone was wearing nice black/gray suits.

there was a girl at my creighton interview who wore a light pink jacket with puffy sleeves, a white skirt, and black knee high boots! total 80's flashback! it was horrible!

I just have 3 suits I brought from Vietnam: white, pink and bordeaux.
Do u think I have to buy another suit here? Thank you.

I have pierced ears and a mohawk (Well faux hawk), but I cut my hair and took out my earrings prior. Took forever to get my hair back to its previous state..But it was worth it...

I would wear the bordeaux. The name indicates it should be a dark wine color, is that true? As long as the skirt (if applicable isnt) above the knee or the jacket isnt hopelessly out of style (ear high shoulder pads) wear that one. Maybe with navy. A pink suit is really not appropriate for an interview, and white is iffy.

Man. You BETTER freaking wear your 'hawk to class XD I'm gonna hunt you down!

I haven't seen anything too crazy... yet! But at one of my interviews this guy was wearing nice khaki pants and a blazer but with WHITE NIKE SNEAKERS. He looked great from the ankles up! I don't know why he didn't just throw on some dress shoes.

Ok I think i have seen some interesting outfits and behaviours...

First the outfits: 1) A pinstripe suit consisting of: a miniskirt, vest/jacket with no shirt and knee high boots. She got the suit from victoria secrets. 2) A pink CAT SUIT with a short black blazer over the top and open toed platform shiny pink shoes 3) a jean skirt with turtleneck, hair pulled up in a rubberband 4) *not to leave the guys out* Guy with a clip on tie that came off as he got up to go into the interview room 5) Nice blue blazer with a pack of smokes in the pocket, a tshirt, wrinkled khakis with black nike's and no socks.

Comments/Behaviours: While interviewing at creighton they have a presentation first... one guy fell asleep, a girl was doing her nails in the FRONT ROW, and another guy was text messaging the entire time. Funny how professors were in the back of the room and took plenty of notes. At another interview I overheard: someone ask the tour guide if being black would work in her favor since it "is a school in Iowa..where there are no black people." Finally, and my favorite: "I really want to be a Sockeye, yellow is my favorite color!!" I think it was supposed to be Hawkeye.

I've been the guy with a weird outfit on. I had an interview in Iowa, and when I arrived they said my luggage was delayed, but that they'd deliver it the next day.

I was happy it wasn't lost, but it came too late for me to use it for my interview, which I found had been rescheduled for 9 am the next day. I had jeans, a sweater, and a jacket. Thank God my mom told me to always have toiletries and fresh underwear in my carry-on, or it could've been worse.

I know - why didn't I buy a new suit and shoes? One - I arrived late, and everything was closed. Two - have you ever tried to find, let alone buy, size 15 dress shoes? :scared:

Long story short, I felt very uncomfortable the entire day, and felt I had to explain my situation each time I'd enter a room and receive the "No way, he didn't dress up" look. I managed to whittle my explanation down to a very concise blurb by the time I actually met my interviewers. I don't know if it affected their view of me, but it was extremely awkward, even when they all said, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I completely understand."

LOL ... I've lived in Iowa for 25 years. If you see a black person, call me up. I'll get my friends and we'll take pictures.

BTW, Tennis and PbintoAu, you guys heard anything from Iowa yet?

I'm curious, how short of a skirt is too short for chicks to wear to an interview? I remember looking over at a girl and all I saw were legs and thigh (and cleavage yay). It was hot and I certainly didn't mind the sight, but I thought ummm maybe the interviewers wouldn't appreciate it as much as I did? 😳

Haha..I'll prolly cut it though, cause I dont wanna be viewed as not professional...

About the short skirt...problably not something that made the interviewer wonder if you were going to pull out your portable pole and do a few tricks. I think the "business professional" skirt legnth is to the knee or slightly above it. When I worked at Baxter that was written as part of their buisness professional dress policy.

Brixius: I got a letter of acceptance on Saturdy.

Hey, I add water too! I think it's less sour that way. 😛

By the way, I get the original POM.

I saw really weird (too casual) dressing at my interview. That was it and despite the written letters of dressing professionaly, I was surprised to see those looks. I really wonder if any of them would get in even if their interview went well.

I've never tried adding water, but it's really good with sparkling water!

LOL, I can't quit laughing at this. People never cease to amaze me.

I think i had the most. . . well unusual outfit at my interview. I'm really short and curvy so every suit I tried on (in the week notice I had before my interview) was cut wrong for me. Nordstroms was about to kick me out so I ended up buying a silk cocktail jacket that had japanese water color on it with black ribbing and having it tailored so that it had cuffs. It had all the little eyehook buttons in the front. I wore a plack skirt black stockings and boots and a silk weave shirt underneath. If anyone was at the interview with me I probably dont even have to name the school I interviewed at. It was professional but very different and anything to help the interviewers positively remember me is good in my opinion.
