Only had two back to back exams but had to pull an all-nighter for the last one. Afterwards, I was starving, dehydrated and overall felt like death was near. I still feel like crap. 😳 If next semester doesn't kill me, the second year will. 🙁

I passed my first rotation. All those nights of playing Gears of War against the local floater pharmacist until 3AM didn't negatively affect me. Woohoo.

I survived the whole event, due largely to my sleeping habits (getting up 8 am every day no matter what and getting >7hrs sleep) and not studying around other pharmacy students as they go on melodramas about their impending doom from [insert final here].

Key is to pace yourself and not burn yourself with all-nighters and tremendous nervousness. Approach it with a cool confidence and try to relax, that's how I survived. I get my marks back on wednesday or friday I think, i'll update how it worked out for me.

I am not in pharmacy school but in the third year of a PhD program, and I think that I am getting my first C ever, and I made an A+ in another one of the classes and probably an A in the most difficult course in the program.

And yes, when I took the final in the class that I am getting a C in, I had studied two nights straight. I got to the final and I just froze.

I need to try to learn to relax. The final that I bombed was not hard I just did not understand the wording of the questions very well.

This is in statistics, I wonder if pharmacy is the same way.

It's gets better, trust me.

We'll, maybe not better, but certainly more tolerable. You stop worrying about the ridiculous amount of work involved and just do it.

cdpiano27, I feel your pain. I just got out of Brad Carlin's kicka$$ Bayesian Inference final yesterday and knowingly failed it (that's ok as the class average is ~55% right now). PM me, what school are you at ?

I know this is odd, but my grades on finals were always better than the tests I took throughout the year. I think it's because I had a minimal amount of awareness enough to know I should study the **** like crazy.

Made a 3.91 for the semester (7 A's, 1 B+) and did not change a thing from undergraduate studying for science classes. I thought it was going to be hard but it is mainly just more of the same. Finals were easy except for one class, which was ridiculous and reflects my B+. Maybe at my school the second year is harder? We shall see. Not impreseed so far.

I find it so funny that people in my class think that studying with 12 people - all talking - is actually studying. How can you possibly learn anything with all those people talking? Studying should be done ALONE. There are some times that a study group can be handy, but those times are usually after you have studied by yourself and already know the material. They should be REVIEW sessions.

Completely agreed. One thing, and you guys may have noticed this as well, the students who do best on exams and who are not whining beforehand are people who probably studied in solitaire; and as you pointed out: group study to review the material once learned to make sure you didn't miss anything is the most effective group study.

True That!!! but I am NOT complaining, A's and B's all thru' (got robbed in Biochem and Biostats but thats Ok)....Im just sooo thankful. I remember this time last year I didnt even get an interview yet and was feeling like I didnt belong....mostly due to all the overly excited ppl on this forum posting their interview dates and acceptances and bragging about their experience and High GPA's(not knocking anyone, It just SUCKS when youre on the outside looking in); I was even making plans to try to get in the following year and watch my wifey go off to school without me...now were in the same class kickin' ass Congrats all! One semester down, only SEVEN more to go😛
