Hi,
I got a fare evasion ticket as an adult about 2-3 years ago in Ontario Canada (I live here). I paid the $60 fine without going to court to fight it. I didn't report it on my primary or my secondaries because I completely forgot about it until now. I'm applying for US medical schools by the way. What are my options??
Other specific questions
1. How serious is this?
2. I am going do a self check on Certiphi to see if it comes up. One part of the form I have to fill out asks me to describe any misdemeanor I've had. I don't know if fare evasion is a misdemeanor in Ontario, but I thought I'd report it anyway just to give them a heads up so that they can know what to look for, because obviously I want the self check to be as thorough as possible. BUT, if I report it on the request form, and it DIDN'T show up during the check, would be fact that I revealed this on the form be known to medical schools somewhere down the line? Essentially what I'm asking is, when med schools do their own checks, do they now have access to your self-check records and information or do they initiate their own checks and your self-check info is only available to you forever and ever?
3. Since I'm an extremely borderline applicant, this is what I'm considering: I don't tell anyone and go through the process as normal. I tell the schools only once I've been accepted (before they perform their own background check on me) because I figured it would be less likely for them to take away my acceptance.
Please help. Thoughts??
