differences between allopath and osteopath?

I'm looking for some exact information on the difference between allopathic medicine and osteopathic medicine, other than OMT. I've read on many school's web pages that one difference is that osteopaths approach a patient holistically. What exactly does this mean? Also I've read something about the 4 tenets of osteopathic medicine. What is that? Any suggestions on good reading would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
