Ok so I just started working for one of the big retail chains and the worst as I have heard on this forum. There is a not-so-high volume store but is really really busy as everybody wants to wait for their Rx and a lot of CIIs. I am not as fast as the pharmacists regularly working there, I agree as I just started working not even a month ago and it s a difficult store for me. The PIC there just keeps complaining about me every time I work there - CIIs were not logged in (I forgot to log just one script out of the 15 I filled), customer complained about wait time for their flu shot and a lot of different things that went wrong that day at that particular store. In short, I got written up by my Sup and I feel I am not half as bad as the PIC who complaints about me (I got a phone call from a customer who was dispensed wrong meds by the same PIC - Script had some customer's name and entered for some one else!!!)

So now I feel it is very unfair to write somebody up like this. I don't have any job lined up but I am so sick of this daily drama that I can quit today if I can. I have actively started looking for jobs (in fact have an interview tomorrow at some independent pharmacy for a part-time position). Please guide. Also, if anybody has any tips for the interview at an independent retail I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Tell your sup this store may not be a good fit for you this early in your licensure. Do not lose this job until you have another one.

Deal with the devil for as long as you can, better to have some income. I always had to apologize to the customers for the long wait thanks to that company being so cheap and not hiring enough people. There's no excuse for that nasty company. The boss has a placed reserved for him in h*ll. The company has ruined my life because I couldn't find another job. Thanks to the sh*tty job market, and I went bankrupt.

Sorry to hear that. So basically you were written up because the pic complained about you?
Well, my advice to you is suck it up until you can find another job. The market is not good out there. Look for job as if you had no job. The rule is you are better off finding a job when you already have one.
Good luck

Don't worry about the write up. There are some miserable pharmacists out there who will do anything to ruin a newbie pharmacist. I know exactly how you feel right now because I was also written up less than 2 months after I started working. Some pharmacist claimed that she saw me use another pharmacist's barcode.
My advice will be to not quit. I also thought about quitting after the incident but I'm glad today that I didn't quit.
I was a floater back then so I made sure I covered my back at every store. I say make a note of the basic things that the PIC has complained about and work to improve on them. You are not doing it to impress the PIC but yourself.
I'm not a fan of working for an independent pharmacy that I do not own but good luck if working for one will reduce your stress level.

This is so true, i'm not sure why either.

Also, OP, what you're experiencing may not be different at any other pharmacy. Patients complain about everything.

1) train your patients, if they want to wait, you keep increasing wait time, not everyone gets 15 mins

2) if a patient complains, handle it then and there. Sorry you had to wait but there are others ahead of you

you're the boss while you're working, remember.

ANY SINGLE TIME THERE IS AN ERROR YOU REPORT IT.

If you discovered an error made by your PIC, you DAMN WELL REPORT IT.

Report every single god damn error on this PIC whether it is a big deal or not. Then he or she will get the picture. He or she will realize "WTF am I doing? I am making a lot of mistakes! Why? Should I slow down? What am I doing wrong?" etc etc etc.

It is in YOUR BEST INTEREST to report ANY error made by the PIC.

Me personally, I have an extremely excellent relationship with my PIC, and 4 other staff pharmacists. I have seen them time and time again correct my errors for me, handle the customer situation, and not report me officially. Nothing was a serious error. If it was serious they would report it. But since I have witnessed them throwing me a bone, I always throw them a bone back. I will never report them, unless something extremely serious.

Again, for YOU, it is in YOUR BEST INTEREST TO REPORT ANY ERROR MADE BY YOUR PIC. Don't be an idiot. REPORT ANY ERROR.

I hate CVS. The company will get sued for not reversing scripts past the 14 days that customers have not picked up. It is a matter of time. F' you CVS.

You know if it is a common practice you can gather up evidence, and report it. Be the whistleblower, get 10-30% of settlement and retire rich!!

They will not get in trouble because corporate policy is to reverse the Rx's. What happens may vary.

work on verifying faster. Identify what is exactly slowing you down. Is it the going through the useless DURs or just newbie paranoia about making mistakes? You will get better over time and will develop a system that will make you faster. Make sure to get the C2 sticker from the label (or anything that you have to put in the C2 binder) and put them somewhere you can see so you don't miss to log any in.

Do not quit, grow a thick skin and just do your job. There are numerous advantages in working for a chain like 401k match, HSA, ESPP and better liability protection.

The company has ruined my life, don't let them take advantage of you and ruin yours. Hopefully you get that other job. Then leave the devil in the dust where it belongs.

DO NOT QUIT!!! I just got laid off with 5 other pharmacists. You never know what the future holds. Just be happy you have a job.

Lol yes have been doing that...not just about that PIC but now every store I work at every little thing is being reported to my supervisor. And luckily no complaints yet! Thank you all for giving me your feedback. I am still debating in my head... thinking atleast to work part time with the chain and part time with the independent... The independent pharmacy job is tempting as the owner said they will be adding a lot of clinical services in future.

If you like your job not the people whom you work with, request to float part time (48-60 hours per pay period, if you can) if your finances allow you to. Some other PIC's are kind and they will actually train you, who knows they might want you to come back and fill an empty shift. Floating can be a nightmare if you go to a bad store but you won't be there for more than 8 hours, so it's easier to swallow then being at a place 40 hours a week and face people who lower your self esteem and make you feel worthless.

Explore your options. The interview sounds great! Good luck.

my advise is to play nice with her and if she's still a bitch then ask yoir supervosor if you can go to another store. i hate bitcy managers who think they are all that and try to make others life hard. also report her in the system for her mistake
