It seems pharmacy is heading down a different path here, after speaking with a few people and being aware of these changes for some time now I'll share what I know:

As you guys know, the Canadian PharmD is 2 years on top of a 5 year B.Sc., which is in essence 1 more year than yours. The plan is to begin placing entry level PharmD programs across the country, the french schools having already done so this year. Most wages are saying in 5-10 years the entry level pharmD will be implemented.

Pharmacists have begun prescribing here, this will trickle down through the other provinces [programs are in the works all across] within ~5 years, with Alberta already having implemented the program. Maintenance meds, refills, and initiation of therapy for those qualified [i.e specialists].

But the most interesting move are the rumblings of a MD acting to diagnose, with the doctors of pharmacy managing therapy. Of course, this is a few years down the road but this is the direction it seems we're heading. I'll look for some references off a PhD friend of mine who was reading up on it as well.

Looks good!

I don't know... all I know is that in Montreal all the signs are in French...people are thin.. and "Smoking is bad for you" hasn't caught on yet.

Haha, I guess the last two are kind of related eh?

The people look a lot better in Montreal because fashion is so prevalent, a decent looking girl looks good because they're all dressed up 24/7. People smoke all the damn time though, it's overbearing in coffee shops.

Like your time there?

Had a great time. What a beautiful city!! Too bad y'all opted not to join the US.

What's mind boggling is how north and remote Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and upstate NY are. And how cold it gets up there. Then to think that there are large metropolitan cities further up north... Unbelievable.

Do you recognize this place?

Nice, I've stayed at the Hyett Regency [beautiful hotel] in DT montreal and also a place ~10 seconds from the Bell Centre [where the montreal canadians play]. The latter was called the Novotel I think.

You can easily spend a week just wandering around Saint Catherine's street and not get bored.

Absolutely. I can just sit at a cafe and watch people for 2 weeks and not get bored on St Catherine's. I would like to have spent more time. I will ...on my next trip up there.
