Dis-continuity clinics

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It is very possible! Mine is always full. The best thing is if you have booking rights. I book all of my ER follow-ups, postpartum visits, postop follow-ups, staple removals etc in my clinic. I also will follow my problem gyn patients in my clinic as well. (Such as bringing them back for embx, IUD etc.

Might I ask where do you attend residency?

Military residency (Wilford Hall/BAMC) in San Antonio

It is possible in our clinic, but first of all you have to make sure you give all your patients your card and ask them to specifically ask to be booked with you.

And then there's the problem that our clinics are always full and there can be > 2-wk wait to get an appointment with one of us...

I think continuity clinics are a great idea. That's the idea of future practice, well hopefully. That's one reason I'm leaving surgery and joining OBG.

How many of you use a template schedule for your continuity clinics?

I'm trying to advocate for reserved "return conti" patient slots within the template that can revert to "same day/short notice" slots if unfilled 48h prior to clinic start.

Conti is largely dependent on your initiative. Giving out a card or scheduling your own followup appts is one of the best ways to make sure you keep your pt.
