Has anyone found that they disagree with some of the answer explanations?

Also, there was an explanation that said that if choice C wasn't there B would have a been the better answer. HOWEVER, in my Kaplan course I was told that, on the real MCAT, there is ALWAYS one right answer that is supported in the passage and the other blatantly incorrect....what have you experiences been with the real test?

ur definitely right. in EK I found myself disagreeing with a lot of the answers. It's a common thing people feel. It's one of the problems with trying to replicate AAMC verbal. But that being said, EK is still a great VR resource. Just take your score with a grain of salt.

Don't get too caught up in the EK verbal scores. I always scored a 9 (ugh) on their practice tests. But always scored 11 on AAMC practices. So like previous poster said take your scores with a grain of salt.

To be honest, I'm not too concerned about the score, I'm more concerned about making a habit of looking for the wrong things.

Oh Okay, I just used EK to practice and when I didn't get the answer EK suggested I kind of just ignored it. Either way as test day gets closer and closer just use the AAMC practice tests.

Fair enough! Thanks for your insight! Did you find that AAMC tests had similar answers and you had to pick the 'best/better' answer?

Thank you! I thought I was actually going insane 😉 lol. I've been disagreeing with some of the answer choices myself and I have to do my reading elsewhere, so I won’t be mislead. That's a good thing actually. EK is good to understanding the concepts and getting extra practice and that’s about it.

Yeah when Kaplan says there are 3 wrong answers that's BS.

If it were that simple people would be getting 14s and 15s on Verbal, as they do with PS and BS.

The reason why verbal is hard is because there is often two ambiguous answers where they both "might" be right but one is a better choice than the other.

I agree. Kaplan passages are in no way representative. There answers are far too easy to find, they are mostly taken directly fro
passages. EK's chapters are more representative as they are main idea oriented, and that is what you are more likely to find on MCAT.

^This. Enjoy EK, you might get more wrong but at least their explanations are usually well thought out. I've been hitting 10-12 on AAMC practs for VR and almost every question I miss comes down to two and I almost always disagree with the solutions they give because they're not well founded and the answer choice I chose seems just as good. Kaplan seriously told you there are always 3 wrong answers? Yeah, maybe if you're the author of the passage or can recite every little detail from memory. You just read the passage and its hardly the first passage you've read all day and you're anxious to move on to the next.

The only advice i can give you for both EK and AAMC that I've found is that when it comes down to two answers, if you cannot disprove one of them there is a chance that you're going to get them wrong. Do NOT waste a lot of time on these. Pick an answer choice and mark it, hopefully you'll have time to come back to it at the end. Its better than spending 4 or 5 minutes staring at one question and having to guess on the last 5 questions because you ran out of time.

I think on the test given the fact that real VR passages seem to be getting longer, this is the section that most people are going to run out of time on, although PS is probably going to be cut close as well.
