I got my step 1 score back today and am devastated - scored ~20 points lower than expected (212). I am kind of in a tailspin and am wondering if there is any website similar to MDApps where people list their stats and whether certain programs granted interviews?

This info seems to be very hush hush - and I am just trying to understand which programs may have hard cut offs for applications so I dont waste my time/money applying. I am interested in FM / Peds, if that matters. My peds advisor mentioned "some Texas student submitted stats thing" that we eventually get access to through our school but a) I have no idea what she is talking about and b) I kind of would like to look now to just know if my hopes and dreams of certain programs are dead in the water now.

Anybody have any idea? I have FREIDA but I've heard its way out of date and not accurate for this topic.

You’re probably not going to find a source that gives you exactly what you’re looking for. Some programs list hard cut offs on their websites but even then don’t follow it 100%. FREIDA is absolutely outdated, but I thought had its uses just kind of comparing relative competitiveness of different programs.

With that being said, I don’t think you’ll have too much trouble matching FM or peds with that score. Yeah, maybe no Harvard peds anymore but plenty of peds/FM programs across the country, so just apply accordingly. Talk to your advisors.

Thank God you want Peds or FM. You can actually match at Harvard with a 212 AND 245+ Step 2 CK that is reportable by Sept 15. No biggie.

I know how you feel, OP. (You scored higher than i did) However, as stated before, you will not have an issue matching FM if you have no red flags. You passed step 1, which is hugely important.

Oh, Jesus. You're FINE. Per Charting Outcomes:

Pediatrics
US seniors with Step 1 scores from 211-220: 278 matched, 5 did not match (a 98.2% success rate)

Family Medicine
US seniors with Step 1 scores from 211-220: 316 matched, 10 did not match (a 96.9% success rate)

Look at most other fields and you will find plenty of people matching with similar Step 1 scores. Do well on your rotations, improve on Step 2 CK, pass CS on the first try, and you will have options.

Match a resident is pretty accurate with step cutoffs I found. That being said, if you are close to one, still apply if it’s somewhere you want to go because places will make exceptions to their cutoffs if you reach out and they like you or the rest of your application.

Is there a service out there that reports median step 1 scores other than FRIEDA?

Not sure of anywhere where you can find median scores, I just know of Match a resident reporting low end cut offs.

This year a lot of specialties had google docs in which people updated how their cycles went - you can peruse those for FM and peds if you want to see how others with similar step 1 scores fared, though likely that will be more # of interviews than particular programs.

The Texas survey was sent to MS4s at a number of schools (if not all?) this year, but idk how many people actually filled it out, so who knows how useful it may be.
