I know this is early, but I have been thinking about it.

Okay, when writing this essay, do you count the factors such as your history, or where you are from?
For instance, I am not a native of the United States, and share many customs from my people. I think this is a factor that I really need to push ahead and highlight, because 90% of my fellow applicants in my state are most likely white, natural state born, US forever residents. I mean, through the preliminary rounds I am sure I can receive some sort of advantage for diversity.

Are you talking about the writing prompts on secondaries that ask some form of "what makes you unique?"

It is pretty much anything you think helps you stand out. Being from another country is definitely worth mentioning IMO.. Personally, I'm a boring white male from NY so I talked about all the experiences I have had living in different countries under different circumstances plus the fact that I have spent time in suburbs, NYC and went to school in a very rural area so I'm "well-rounded."

Talking about your unique culture and how that shapes your personality sounds good to me.
