Hey All,

I've been spending a lot of time trying to think of my diversity essay, and to be honest, this one has had me quite stumped. I think my best idea right now is talking about how I've had a passion for building/fixing PCs since middle school, and this has led to building/soldering mechanical keyboards as well. I've attended events, meetups, etc., for this passion, and I think it speaks to how I think and problem-solve.

Some other ideas I like less include:
Being the only one of my siblings home to deal with my parents divorce and how that's changed my ability to understand others' perspectives (feels too much like an adversity essay) or possibly growing up with a single mom

Health issues growing up, including severe asthma and appendicitis (seems not very diverse, not life-altering, cliche)

I'd appreciate some input. Thanks.

Being able to see others' perspectives is a good skill for physicians and if you want to make it more about empathy for both parents rather than "adversity" you could go in that direction.

You could also say that you bring a passion for trouble shooting mechanical and electronic items and problem solving in that regard. This could be a plus if you are particularly drawn toward the types of specialties that use high tech devices and depend on a high level of eye-hand coordination and steadiness.
