I have a friend trying to decide between two specialties right now. Is it ok if they decide to split one of their aways and do half in one specialty and half in the other? This is in the Army. Would the army allow that, or is that ill-advised? How does it come off to program directors?

As long as it is in the same facility, should not be an issue. They only care when it costs more money to transport you.
